BYR Acoustic Jam Special Thanks

Post by songsmith »

Enthusiastic thanks go out to all who participated in the first (but definitely not last) Backyard Rocker Acoustic Special last night on Q-94 FM.
All in attendance thoroughly rocked the house, and like it's inspiration, the Rockpage Benefit Jam, a zero-attitude vibe made the whole thing a resounding success. Those in attendance talked shop, swapped gig stories, and learned how to fit 10 pounds of gear into a 5 pound bag. :)
Special thanks go to John Solinski, who did more actual work on this project than I did myself! He secured a good mixing console, set it up, and mixed the entire show in addition to playing. Also big ups to Jim Price, the musicians best friend, for allowing us all to turn his radio show into a flat-top free-for-all.
Can't forget Steve Summerhill, Acid Reflux, Rock & Rye, Kenny Karlheim, and everyone else who assisted in the endeavor... you guys rule.
The Professor assured us that there will be more Acoustic Specials in the not-too-distant future, and a little birdy tells me that an all-star acoustic jam is in the works for a local venue, so people can experience the madness first-hand. Watch this space for details! Thanks again to all involved, and try not to strain your picking hand as you pat yourselves on the back!------->JMS

This past Sunday had to rank up there among the best "Backyard Rocker" programs we have had so far. I have heard several good comments about the show - the girl behind the counter at Sheetz even told me she was tuned in!

Thanks again to Songsmith for coming up with the idea and putting the show together, John Solinski for providing the soundboard and engineering the festivities, and all the musicians who took part. That was a very fun two hours! Look for photos from the show on the Q94 website (www.wbxq.com) soon!

As Songsmith said, there will be more of these. Look for the next "Acoustic Jam Special" to happen some time in September or October.

I know, I'm a little late on posting, but...... ;) Anyways, sometimes when you think jams can't get any better, get put on the spot and on the radio at the same time. heh That's pretty much what happend that night and I'll never forget it the rest of my life. Heck, two hours of air time seemed to pass by like 20 minutes. I'd like to thank everyone that took part in the event. If it wasn't for songsmith's idea and Jim Price's go ahead, as well as letting me try to do a live mix, this would've never happened. All the guys did a fantastic job and the jams were pulled off very well. I'd also like to thank the guys for letting me mix everything. I did the best I could do with the time we had, as well as the crappy headphones I had. ;) A special thanks goes to Paul from www.bigheadguitars.com for the loan of the board, Chris from Streamlined Productions for the loan of mics, cords, and stands, and Redawg for the loan of his midi drumkit. We didn't know how micing the congas was going to turn out and had it on standby. We ended up using it for two of the jams we did. I can't wait to see what's going to happen on the next one and hope we can be a part of it. For those that missed it, nothing but shame for you. :P

Wish you could have been there, brutha! I'm planning on coming to the Belmar as soon as the cold goes away enough to sing. I'm hearing good things about how well it's going there. Everybody stop in when you see Ron and Adam D on the marquee... two guys with loads of experience and talent, and 10 of their closest friends jamming, sounds like a good time!-------->JMS
