locking nut

Post by metalchurch »

Did anyone see the EARVANA compensated nut? It has off set string slots to give far superior intonation than a standard nut. ESP uses them.
Anyway, does anyone out there make a locking one for a Floyd? Just thought of it this morning.

You can always use a Kahler-style "behind the nut" string lock.

They are available with flip-levers instead of allen wrenches--coarse tuning goes a lot quicker.

Yeah Lonewolf is right get the compensated nut for your guitar and get a behind the nut locking nut, that way you will have the best of both worlds. If you need a Kahler nut let me know as I am a Kahler dealer. But I would stay away from the flip top locking nut as they were junk, just get a regular Kahler locking nut. I must have replaced 10-15 of the flip style ones over tha past couple years for ones with screw locks instead of flip locks. The flip lock works great when new but when they start to wear the strings will slide and will go out of tune. I have seen a few older ones that work fine but for the most part they wear and cant be tightened anymore like the screw top nuts so the strings pull through.

I thought of the Kahler already. I have one but I didnt want to drill any holes in my Jackson. I was just wondering if any company made one. Know any machine shops? We can all quit our jobs and retire then!
