Post by RobTheDrummer »

Mine would have to be Mike Zito and a close second to my friends Sonic Overdrive from Alaska. Mike and Sonic are both amazing bands and they are also fun as hell to hang with.

How about you guys?

Hillbilly Gypsies @ the Heidelberg, followed by Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver @ the State Theater. Locally, it's hard to beat Rusty Gun Revival and The Hurricanes, at least for me. Scream puts on a hell of a good show, too.--->JMS

Easy. Newsboys @ the Jaffa a few weeks ago.

They took an arena show that would be big enough to be appealing at the Bryce Jordan Center and jammed the whole thing into the confines of the Jaffa. Unbelievable.

Kutless also were very good at this same show.

Stellar Kart were pretty good, too. But Newsboys tore it up.

I have seen The Newsboys several times live but I did not get to see the Jaffa Mosque show. I must say that they are one of the best live acts out there today. They definitely put on a show and entertain the people and they play some of the catchiest songs I have ever heard from any band.

One that I just saw last weekend that I'd never heard of, that was really good, was H8ball. Those guys were real good.

considering the yr is only 3 months old... I would have to say Pivot at the Blvd. There is something magical that happens when they play that room.

I cant explain it. Those ppl act like they are in a trance when these guys take the stage.

Type O for show of the year? You are turning into a Peter Steele apologist.

Every band I've seen this year was awesome.
All locals too.
Best? I can't pick cuz they're all different.
I am noticing one thing though, since the crowbar closed I don't get to see bands like I used to.

Killjingle- anything Peter Steele im into. He is the man. how many times have you seen type o negative? they are better than ANY local band ANY day. ive been into Type O Negative for 11 years and first saw them in 1997 @ Ozzfest.

I would have to agree that the jaffa show with Stellar kart, Kutless and The Newsboys was a great show. It was my first time hearing those bands. I didnt feel very comfortable at first, but as the show went on, I was amazed to hear the reaction from the crowd. It was as if we were all in a 30,000 seat arena!. When people jumped and stomped their feet, it felt like the place was coming down!

Stellar Kart were cool
Kutless were ok
The Newsboys rocked! (I'm not a big fan of that kinda music but, they put on a great show!)

i took my lil bro to that show for his b-day because he is a big Kutless fan. I didnt know what to expect going in but I'm glad I went.

they are better than ANY local band ANY day.

This in my opinion is why this area will always fail. That mentality sucks.

If noone would ever give the "any local band any day" a shot to be their favorite band, the musical scene would never find the next big thing.

I like Type O, Im just tired of you expressing your love for them already. Seen em 3 times, yes they were great, but good god support the guys who will support you first. Channel that love for something you can touch or feel firsthand.

Good call man. I thought the exact same thing when I saw it.

On a side note, I've seen plenty of local bands, or bands that have played in the area with the locals who were beyond most of the shit that repeatedly gets forced on us by labels such as RoadRunner, Prosthetic, and MetalBlade. Those labels have great bands but, almost as much shit as good, sometimes more.
