question about guitar part
i recently have been building my own electric guitar, and i made the neck myself...it is made fine...and will work, btu its too narrow for the bridge i bought...i was wondering if any1 knows all the sizes of bridges as far as string spacing, imm pretty sure mine is a 2 1/8 string spacing...thanks
I made a bass last year and ran into a similar problem. I used a "60's" Vox neck which are extremly narrow and I couldn't find a bridge that would work. I solved the problem by getting a Fender "Vintage Style" bass bridge which has "threads" instead of slots to hold the strings. The phillps screws that hold the saddels don't screw into the middles of the saddels but are offset a bit so I reversed a couple of them and then drilled new holes in the back of the bridge so they would line up a little better.
I know that this is hard to explain but take a look.

Stewart-MacDonald's website is a good resource for technical info on hardware and they carry a little of everything. Here's a Schaller bridge that's adjustable from 2" to 2-3/16" string spacing:

You guys should post some pics of the stuff that you have made... I have never built any guitars or amps or anything before but it seems like a lot of peole around here do, and do a good job too! Show it off!!!
