My guitarist asked this question earlier today and I was hoping for some input:
"If you throw a speaker down a flight of stairs & nobody hears it, did it really get thrown down the stairs in the first place?"
BTW, on a related topic, Zilly at City Limits said Saturday night that if you're going to throw your gear down stairs, make sure your cabs are not made of plastic.

It's also a good idea to not sell cabinets by saying that you "tried to blow them up every night." Letting potential buyers know that you clipped your drivers with too much power on a nightly basis isn't a great marketing ploy.

Re: Question regarding gear durability
Depends if its ABS or composite. ABS makes for a great projectile and will frag on hard surfaces. Composite is stronger than a lot of metals and is no fun at all. It will just bounce like a dead cat.BadDazeRob wrote:BTW, on a related topic, Zilly at City Limits said Saturday night that if you're going to throw your gear down stairs, make sure your cabs are not made of plastic.

Re: Question regarding gear durability
If its dropped far enough, its called a "dead cat bounce". Its something that can happen to the price of a stock AND a falling composite PA cabinet.BadDazeRob wrote:I always thought a dead cat would make a meaty thud ...lonewolf wrote:Depends if its ABS or composite.
