Your favorite cymbals and why

WOW! I really haven't thought about Paste that much, But I have used them and recorded with them and to me YES there some what Expensive, and there VERY Bright, maybe a little too bright for my liking and I have used and owned some Sabian cymbals and have recorded with them as well, but to me I like Zildjian, reason being I have had GREAT SUCCESS with Zildjian, and they sound better as they age, there's Nothing better than an OLD Zildjian Cymbal, BUT that's the brand Of Cymbal I like.

I didn't want to start an entire new thread (should I have?). Couple of things I discovered in my travels to the Pittsburgh music stores. First, they are so expensive. I saw the Dimensions power crash in a store for 175 dollars plus tax. Mail order catalog sells it for $150. plus shipping. Redawgs price on ebay was $122. total. I know the sales people have to get paid but damn. Another thing that I noticed was all of the cymbals on display in 2 stores were covered in fingerprints and grime. I've bought used cymbals that look better than some of those. If you haven't got to check out Guitar Center in the Monroeville mall, you so need to. That place is like a damn museum. That place has EVERYTHING and then some. One last thing, I was on Ayotte's web site and discovered that they offer logo sticks. You have choose one of their models. You can get your band's name and logo on the sticks. Cheap price too. There is a one time $40. set up fee and the sticks are $80. a box.

Hello boys and girls... I think I've tried just about every brand of cymbals in my 17 yrs. or so of playing. I've found that for what I'm looking for, Sabian works best for me. In the studio, I use AA thin or med. thin. In live situations, I switch to AA Rock and AAXplosions. One constant though, a 20" Sabian Rock ride I've had for about 13 yrs. Just love that tone!

I use a Sabian ride with the remainders being Zildjian Z Customs and a lone A. I tend to hit hard and they have held up quite well. They cut through the rest of the "noise" coming from the stage good; so I'm told from our sound tech. No offense to you guitar hacks, ha ha. Seriously, I've been playing for about 20 years and had several brands and these seem to be my favorites. BTW, E-Bay is a good source for equipment.

This thread is still going. I contacted Paiste with my colorsound questions and here is what they had to say. The only difference between 2000 colorsounds and colorsound 5 cymbals is the year they were introduced. I was sad to find out that all colorsounds are made of B-8 cymbal alloy. I'm still scratching my head over that one. B-8 (remember Sabian B-8's) is a cheap lower line cymbal alloy. How can the colorsounds sound so good being made of that alloy? Just like some of you said. It is what is pleasing your ears.

Thanks for the info on the Colorsounds. I searched the web high and low, and couldn't find anything on the differences. I guess when in doubt go to the source. (Great call on contacting Paiste. I don't know why I didn't think of it.) Duhhh...

I'm still stunned that it's B8 bronze. Oh well, my ears are still happy.
