I don't doubt that the bass player does come up with a lot of the riffs either.
Either way, pretty cool.

OH! And lest I forget, all of it's better than hearing Kim Thayil! THAT guy
was hard to take...and I like "noisy" guitar. Soundgarden was an incredible band...that somehow Kim Thayil got in. Oysh.

The one place I like what he played was the break into the lead part of
"Spoonman". Sounded quite Beatle-esque.

He uses his Whammy pedal for that stuff. A Whammy will do static pitch-shifting in addition to the wild jumping-octave sound it's famous for. Morello uses the octave-up, octave-down, and fifth-up pitch shifts all the time.

Shame about Audioslave, although maybe we're one baby step closer to a Soundgarden reunion. It'll take a lot to drag Kim Thayil away from his lucrative career appearing on the cover of Zig-Zag packages, though.

Yes, I'm really getting into his playing as of late. I went and bought one of Incubus's earlier albums, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., a few weeks ago. He is an excellent player. He's even playing some actual fusision, alal Holdsworth or McLaughlin, on a tune called Deep Inside.

Of course, after buying that album and hearing Dirk Lance's beautiful Warwick-through-Eden tone, I've come to the conclusion that I really need to pick up a Navigator preamp.

Oh man, anybody who knows me well knows i LOVE Rage Against The Machine so I'm praying to God that they stay together for good after that reunion show. Wasn't a fan of Audioslave at all, or De La Rocha's solo attempt. Not even a fan for what Rage stands for but I fucking love their music!!

Does anyone else think that it's weird that Bulls on Parade was RATM's big "radio hit," yet Killin' in the Name has become the Mustang Sally of my generation, with every modern rock band in God's country covering it? Oh well, I could think of worse songs to play for the rest of my life. I always dig playing that chromatic run in the second verse.

killing in the name is the RATM equivelent of "sober" for tool. Its not their best song, its not their most well known song, but its the easiest one to play....


I played No Your Enemy in a previous band, thats got to be my favorite tom morello guitar riff.

Actually, I heard that tune on the radio a few days ago. That album was definitely a lot more produced than their other ones.

As far as RATM songs I'd like to play, without a single thought: BOMBTRACK! *hint, hint*.

I also really like Down Rodeo. Of course, it would be strange for Rob to sing "Ain't seen a brown-skinned man since their grandparents bought one," with Rob being caucasion and all.

I'm a pretty big Cornell fan. I liked Rage a lot when I was younger and still listen to them when I'm on the mood or in the gym. Morello did do some amazingly weird and creative stuff. I liked him for that. Timmy and Tom were/are one hell of a rhythm section.

I think Zach fit the group better. His explosiveness and genuine anger went together with the music of Rage like peas and carrots.

Audioslave was good at best in my opinion. Their second cd was awesome. A good solid rock and roll cd, but you could tell that it was more Cornell influenced.

A lot of people are quick to turn and say Cornell sucks and he blew his voice out, yada yada yada, but the bottom line is this...

All of the Soundgarden Albums.....Unbelieveable.

Euphoria Morning....Different, and hard to accept at first (I just missed Soundgarden), but it's become one of my favorites.

Audioslave - Good album, but it didn't seem like they worked together on the thing.

Out of Exile - Pretty Damn Good. I liked.

Revelations: - Eh, 1 or 2 good songs, seemed like they gave up.


Cornell's lyrics are pretty damn good, and he's not to shabby of a guitar player. He doesn't get enough credit for those things. And for those who think his voice is gone, do yourself a favor and download the "unplugged in sweden" bootleg. It's awesome.

Anyway, just my $0.02. I'm curious to hear the new solo album, and I'd be stoked to see a Soundgarden reunion. Likewise, a new Rage album would kick ass. There's a lot to be pissed off about these days.

Ya, Cornell's voice is great. He did the latest Bond theme and it's a really
cool tune.
