Ohio 15th State to go smoke free for bars & restaurants

On November 7, Ohio voters soundly rejected R.J. Reynold’s Issue 4 and strongly supported Issue 5 backed by 575 businesses and health groups. This was a resounding victory for SmokeFreeOhio and a historic step towards improving the health of Ohio workers and customers.

The law went into effect December 7, and, despite challenges by opponents, the law is still in effect. Businesses are expected to comply with the law, meaning ashtrays need to be removed, signs need to be posted, and smoking needs to be stopped.

Ohio is the 15th state to pass a strong smoke-free law which protects all workers, including those in bars and restaurants. The list includes: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Montana, Utah, Vermont, and Washington State. Several countries have smoke-free laws, including Italy, Ireland, Scotland, and Canada.

Here's a sideline to the story. The VFW's, Legions helped pass this bill thinking that clubs were not included in the (bar, restaurant) catagory.

I wonder if there's an ohio equivalent of rockpage so I can hear first hand from all the bands how much this fucks them.
Stand back, I like to rock out.

There is a website with Ohio bands similar to Rockpage but it does not appear to be as active.

I can't wait for the day Pennsylvania makes this a law. I'll be the happiest person in the state. Cigarette smoke makes me sick. The one thing that I really hate, is once my equipment is back in the trailer, the next time i open my trailer the smell is enough to gag a maggot. But I enjoy running sound & lights for bands, its part of my living & i have to deal with the smoke, even if i dont like it. So like i said, I can't wait till PA is smoke-free & my equipment can stay healthy as well as me.
