I would be happy to make a living just playing, I know allot want to be famous but I think that would have too much pressure from people who like and dislike you and pressure to not be a "one hit wonder" and having to "top that" everytime you make something else. I'd just be happy if I could make alittle more money just playing then I do now working. If I could play 3-4 nights a week and make say $100 more than my pay check..that would be sweet and I could live comfortable and have the most of the week off. ( I don't think thats dreaming too big!!)

I agree with Bob. Screw the fame bullshit, I got to meet Ted Nugent last night and it was ridiculous the way everyone was herded through for autographs and memorabilia, and this was for a hunting seminar!!!
I absolutely give the man credit, because he wanted to meet everyone, so he signed autographs for about an hour and a half at both ends of his seminar. That I don't know I could do, especially for the thirty years he's been doing it. But if that's the price you have to pay to play YOUR music everyday, I'm sure I could keep a sharpie handy. As far as playing with anyone other than fedup, I'd never sell-out like that, so it's not an issue, I make OK money now, and I couldn't imagine shitting on the rest of the band who have worked just as hard or harder than myself in this industry, and I know are very talented.

I'm going to answer it this way:

As a Tech, I would love to take Lorne "Gump" Wheaton's place as Neil Peart's drum tech.

As a Soundman, I would love to work with Tool. I think they have an amazing live sound. Honorable mention to Arch Enemy.

As a Musician, I'd only "sell out" to play with Lenny Kravitz. I really enjoy his music, and love the groove that he brings to the drumset, and that Cindy Blackman brings to the drumset live.

I definitely agree with this. I really don't know if I could deal with the pressure of being a star. I remember hearing somewhere that country artists in Nashville are expected to have a hit single every three months or they're out the door. I just don't think that creating art works on a set timeline.

Also, I'm a rather private person, so I don't think that I would like dealing with that whole issue very much. I'm addicted to being on stage and can be a ham when I'm there, but that's part of my job. I don't want to try to be a rockstar while I'm sitting down at the sushi restuarant on a Saturday afternoon. I imagine that you meet a ton of fake-ass people when you are on that level. There are enough (or would that be "there is enough"? Please help me, Captain Grammar.) fake-ass people on this level.

As far as what national band I'd like to be a part of - I would feel strange trying to come in and fill the shoes of one of my heros. Even on the local level, I'd feel strange trying to come in and try to replace a great player. It's not even an issue of chops or anything. Every player has his or her own unique voice on the instrument, and I don't know if it would be right to come in with my voice and disrupt the chemistry that made that band great. Furthemore, you don't know the personalities of the people in these bands. Jason Newsted loved Metallica, but when he was hired, James and Lars treated him like shit.

With that being said, I think that it's very obtainable to make a nice living at playing music if you work hard and know how to market yourself. I've contemplated it numerous times. I like what I'm doing now, but plans may change in the future.

Other than that I'd Rather stay home than tour, doing whatever, Maybe ten years ago.
I've done guitar work for Bonnie Raite, and being on that tour no thanks. I be a homebody..... If I never had to leave this GREAT and CLEAN town of Altoona. I would Tour with the band MORPHINE... as a saxaphone reed fixer
