Oh yeah, provolone cheese is now .99¢, so that's out when I ever get another turkey mto.
I hadn't had one in ages, and I was SO hungry for a turkey mto today...gee, I wonder WHY???

Oh well, either it was raised to .99¢ and they dropped it to .59¢, or I saw it incorrectly in the first place. (Lordy, I need new contacts!) I still didn't get cheese on it.

I personally think Sheetz is in some financial trouble or at lest their accountant told them that they may be headed for financial trouble. First off Sheetz is now charging extra for eveything that was once included...like FUCKING lettuce, chili, bacon (on a club...bacon is ALWAYS included in a club, now they make you pay for bacon), cheddar cheese, sometimes tomato. Also, price have gone up, but quanity has gone down...note the size of the fryz cup. They are also now weighing the fry quanity. Steve Sheetz is also doing personal television commericals stating that you can't get a better quanity of food for the price...BULLSHIT! They are also targeting a campaign against Subway...note the new ad campaign - Derail the Subway! Sheetz is showing a slight bit of fear. When was the last time Sheetz actually targeted a specific food chain? Lastly, Sheetz is increasing prices and downsizing their staff. Just a few months ago you could walk into any Sheetz and there would be a fair amount of staff and you'd be in and out within five minutes. Now they have staff cut down to two or three night shift workers that can't handle a late night afterhours bars/club rush. I've persoanlly had to wait 45 minutes for my food at the Sheetz in New Alexandria, they called my number, I went to get my food and was greated with - WE'RE OUT OF MAC N CHEESE! My friend who was with my also waited the 45 minutes and he was greated with - WE'RE OUT OF CHICKEN BREAST. I've waited nearly 30 minutes at Murrysville and at the Sheetz in Cambria City (Johnstown). Sheetz better get their shit together or they're soon going to be a thing of the past. Remember when 7/11's ruled the world. Now where are they? There is always someone that can do it better and Sheetz better go back to their old way and get back to the basics where hotdogs were 2/$.99...al that was all you paid...not 2/.99 + .$15 for chili, + $.29 for cheese, etc.

thats a great observation jaybird, and makes alot of sense, i was thinking about those issues on an individual basis and didn't put it all together for some reason. but yeah, why is he putting his mug out there? why the attacks on subway? hihger prices, different pricing, i think you nailed it. sheetz just might be going down the shitter in more ways than one.
This just in, Sheetz beer sales suspended...
http://www.wtajtv.com/news/local/6017081.html
If I'm reading this right, apparently Sheetz needs the on-premises license for selling beer, and that the take-out provision comes under that license. Maybe this means that after the dust has settled and if Sheetz does get the license, people can consume beer inside the store? That could potentially open up a very interesting can of worms...

Why not let the customer drink a beer there in the store while waiting for an MTO? Someone buys a six-pack & cracks a cold one to ease the wait. It may increase sales & Sheetz can resume selling suds - problem solved. Then have a dining area where you can eat your death dogs or meatball hoagie or whatever & puke it all out before you get home. No worry about cleaning up the mess at home 'cuz you already got 'er done at Sheetz. How's that for convenience?! But just don't forget the rest of that six-pack!

You know, with the average wait time now being about an hour to get your food (and that is with 10 people making sandwiches. Of course that is if you get what you ordered, I'm sure you know how they mess the orders up); this might work ...Klamachpin wrote:Why not let the customer drink a beer there in the store while waiting for an MTO? In all seriousness, though, I think the biggest problem they are going to face/are facing is the distributers crying foul.

Sheetz can't be in that much of a bind financially. My friend is on an opening team and has been in VA, NC, and everywhere in between for the last year. But that could just be the common sense in me screaming "dont' do it if you can't afford it". Whereas I'm assuming they're thinking "build more, make more more money". But the quality is going to hell, and the coffee is TERRIBLE. Sad really.
Who wants to see a real coffeeshop go into Altoona? And not one downtown or all church-y. I'm taking votes.

They have a starbuck kiosk at the mall ... There coffee is good. It would be kind cool to see them put a coffee shop in altoona some where else though. Maybe by walmart - Seeing that about half of altoona goes there every Saturday, well, mostly the first of the month when the welfare checks and food stamp payments come in.

I hate Starbucks. If you want to see a complete meltdown of the average drone worker, go to any Starbucks, but especially a busy one....wait in line...
Then ask for a plain old cup of coffee.
No Grande. No Latte. No Triple Whip No Lid Double Foam.
Just Coffee.
Watch the fireworks ensue. Those idiots don't know what coffee is.

I don't want to insult anyone here, but who has actually shopped at other convenience stores?
The quality of Sheetz could be cut in half and they would still be light years ahead of every single convenience store on the face of the planet.
I don't see how they could be in a bind financially, they are always building new stores, or renovating old ones, and every time they build one its bigger and better than the last.
Why do people go to gas stations? To get gas, to take a piss, to buy a soda, and to buy tobacco products. All these things Sheetz does flawlessly. They are always clean, everything is always damn near as cheap as you can get it.
Its a freaking miracle that they happen to also serve semi decent food.
I seriously doubt the new pricing policy is because they are losing money. Its probably just because they've figured out how to make a little more, and most people aren't going to know that they have actually raised the prices of a lot of things.
I admit that I would probably rather go back to the 2 six inch subs for $4.99 thing. You could get freaking anything and there were some awesome deals. But I also have to admit that sometimes a 6" meatball sub for freaking $2 is awesome. Yeah, I can't get provolone cheese without paying more, which sucks, but I can get parmesian cheese for free, so I'll live.
Oh, and you know that between 2 Am and like 4 AM that 17th street sheetz is making a killing

i prefer WaWa... for everything but MTO..
I have been to WaWa.. I have been to 7-11, Hess never mattered, SuperSunoco never mattered, I have been to Rutters, I have been to a Circle K or whatever it is... they're all the same... inferior to Sheetz..
one of my best friends is the Night Supervisor at the Mt Union Sheetz... he worships the ground Steve Sheetz walks on... I mean, we were sitting at Ruby Tuesday in Altoona... and he was telling me and my best friend (who used to run a Martin General Store) how he honestly feels Sheetz will run Subway out of business...
He was absolutely serious in saying it... it took absolutely everything inside of me to not laugh at him forever.
Sheetz... the demise of Subway? Please... not a million Steve Sheetz could budge Jared Fogle... he may have lost 8 metric ton, but he's still a bigger guy at heart... aint happening.
If Subway dies.. Quiznos killed it.
Seriously though, as far as Convenience Stores go... Sheetz seems to be the best of the best -- despite my prefering WaWa -- I accept that Sheetz has done more. The only thing in Pennsylvania and Maryland even coming close to Sheetz is Turkey Hill... and Turkey Hill is still a long way off....
btw Sheetz barista rocks! iced mocha latte at 3:00 AM after a night of pounding down rock and jager! aint nothing better... aint nothing ever been better...

LMFAO! I don't think most of the mailbox money mutants would want $7.00 coffee anyhow, now a 24hr beer distributor selling only the cheapest shittiest swag would do great! Isn't there supposed to be a Starbuck's in the new Logantown Center?f.sciarrillo wrote:They have a starbuck kiosk at the mall ... There coffee is good. By the way u all think Sheetz sux, try going in one of the local BCO's. The one in Hollidaysburg has an odor when u walk in that smells like some crusty cunted skank douched with Raid. They hire all the other convenience store rejects who act like your taking away from their time when u go into pay for your gas. The one chick was smoking a cig and talking on her cell while she rang me up. No wonder they get robbed all the time.

I did that once. The first (and last time) I ever went to one, I asked for a cup of coffee. It took them longer to get that than to get my friends fancy-whatever-the-hell-it-was-pseudo coffee drink. Re freaking diculous.
