*smooches* Kev. I understand what you're saying. I just found the initial response a bit disappointing. (Plus some guys just need a little kick in the ass to get moving. LOL!)ToonaRockGuy wrote:Mistress, I know you mean well, but damn, woman, give us some time!Mistress_DB wrote:I still would like to see all the bands of rockpage step up for this one. While comparing Hawk's list of who has stepped up to assist and looking at the top 10 bands listed on the main page, I've noticed not many of the bands that are supposedly the most popular in the area have spoke up. I see individual names of band members but not commitments from entire bands.![]()
This thread was started only yesterday, and unless you're a solo act, we need to be able to run everything by our bandmates before committing.
The person below me enjoys a good spanking.

Okay, I got off the phone with Hawk, and wanted to share some of the ideas that we came up with to help move this thing along...
1. Bands should check with venue owners for permission, then invite their fans to bring along their own digital cameras and take pics during the shows. Then, we can have an online host (Photobucket, ImageShack) where fans can upload their show pics. The committee (for lack of a better term) who is running this whole thing can then pare down the photos to say, 200, for inclusion on a picture CD that will be bundled with the DVD for the troops. Fan interaction makes it more fun for everyone.
2. Multiple video cameras at shows would be a good thing, if we can get it. One on a tripod aimed at the stage, maybe one roaming shooting only onstage activities, and one more for fan/band interviews. If we can come up with enough cameras and whatnot, that would be great so each crew could have 2 or 3 cameras per show.
3. Limited sponsorship opportunities for post-production, help with editing, and defraying of costs of show promotion should be considered. But we don't want this to turn in to "Rockpage's Rock The Troops Concert brought to you by Joe Blow's Widget Factory".
4. Hawk has a call in to the local National Guard, but they have yet to return his call. It would be great to have some military folks on hand to see and witness what we can do.
5. Press/Media coverage. Let's face it, with the exception of the "safe" bands (in Altoona, that is), we as musicians are normally portrayed and thought of as a bunch of jobless, drug-addicted, long-haired losers. When the fact is that Rockpage bands raise as much money for charities as some of the high-rate non-profits in Blair County. Let's get WTAJ, Channel 6, Fox 8, The Altoona Mirror, CDT, and Johnstown Trib in on this, too. Let's make people understand that we are not the stereotype that they believe we are.
6. Most importantly: Bands, crews, and fans need to understand and comprehend why we are doing this, and where we are sending our product to.
We are doing this to show our love, praise, and support for the United States Military, PERIOD. As Rob said, their can be (and will not be) any partisan campaigning on this DVD. We may or may not agree with the politics, and that's fine. But our loved ones are a half-world away, doing what they are told to do, and they need to know we support them, no matter what.
Keep in mind, we are sending this product to American soldiers, but in a overwhelmingly majority Islamic country. The final product must pass muster to be allowed into the country. There is no nudity, no pornography, and no foul language allowed. (I don't even know if we'll be allowed to show alcohol consumption.) I don't want to edit music to bleep out bad words, but we have to make sure that the troops have access to what we are about to undertake for them. It would defeat the whole purpose of doing this concert series if we can't get it to them.
This is not going to happen overnight. This is a project that will take months to get together, plan, execute, and produce. People that want to be "in" on it, so to speak, have to be committed for the long haul. We can't bill a show and have three-quarters of a crew drop out and not show up. If people want to help, please encourage them to come to Rockpage and look at this thread. But if you can only help out for a few shows, please don't over-commit yourself for the long haul. Be specific on what you can do and how you can help.
Stay tuned for more information.

Talked to the boys, were in.
Going in the studio soon, we'd like to cover Charlie Daniels "In America" as a tribute to them fighting boys.
Also check with Dan Myers from Beyond Reason. He wrote a great song called Lady Liberty, and recorded it on our last CD. Moving song about the start of this all. Song 9 on our Ipod if you want to listen.
