who can tell me about this guy?.. according to AOL he is the lead candidate for the democrats in 2008 by votes tallied on their poll.

what are his veiws?

i looked him up through yahoo and read some shit but all most all of it talked about just the fact that he is black... duh!! got that off the picture of him

but what is he about?

the choices by the way were gulliani, clinton, this guy, and mccain

who would you pick and why?

He is the Afro/Arab-guilt-ridden left-wing media's darling and their choice as democratic candidate for president.

Without the press, he is nothing more than a clueless freshman senator with a #1 "non-fiction" best-selling book that should have had him expelled from the Senate. Considering the nature of the political content, you can use the term "non-fiction" loosely.

Really? Because I thought he was a reasonably good-looking mixed-race guy without the implied stain of congressional service/cronyism, who the GOP has to slander, because they know he could carry the black vote, the female vote, and the white-guilt vote; and that adds up to a lot of votes. Factor in the last election, where moderates swung left, and the continuing Iraqi toilet-flush, and boy howdy, Spinnity's gonna be working his ass off this summer.
On the other hand, his name rhymes with Osama. It'll never work.

I didn't say that, although his voting record shows that his views are much different than mine.

I was implying that this guy hasn't even come close to paying his dues in the political arena. He actually lost a bid for congress before making the Senate. This makes him among the most clueless in a sea of cluelessness. He hasn't done anything except vote with Ted Kennedy on most issues.

He is nothing more than the latest in a long line of media-created political curiosities. He is also a snowball rolling into hell.

Carry the black vote? You mean he could garner more than the 90% that the democrats usually get anyway?

I honestly don't know much about him yet. I will find out though.

I did hear he wrote over 150 bills that passed. So I don't think he is a "follower", he may be a leader. Even if he is on the same page as Kennedy.

If you mean Rudy Giuliani, he would make a good VP candidate for John McCain, at least for an election strategy. I think that combination would handily beat a Clinton/Obama ticket.

Ron Paul is the guy to vote for. He is going to run as a Republican, but has run for pres. on the Libertarian ticket before. He will not vote on a bill unless it is strictly Constitutional. Most of the laws Congress passes were never intended by the founders of this great country.

During his 1st 2 years in the Senate, he SPONSORED 152 bills and resolutions, of which some passed, but many were tabled in committee or did not pass.

I have to research a few things, but I think I could get behind McCain/Giuliani. Both are moderate Republicans (more liberal socially), and McCain comes off as someone who would favor a more transparent gov't, he's always sponsoring bills that cut corruption. He's going to have to soften on sending more troops to Iraq, though... Americans like their wars to be over in a few years, and this one was dubious to begin with. That stance could cost him an election.
The Democrats could really coast in the next presidential election. Just like they did in the last, they only need to shut the hell up, and let the other side "stay the course." Of course, they won't do that. There will be another John Kerry moment, a moment of utter stupidity that literally has people laughing in the voting booth.
Incidentally, I'm pretty ambivalent towards all the frontrunners currently. Nobody's dumb enough to nominate Kerry again, so that won't happen... Clinton/Obama is a probable Dem ticket to me... McCain/Giuliani would be a great GOP ticket... that would be a really good race, if only from an observational standpoint.----->JMS

I'd really like a McCain/Giuliani ticket. Now those are some candidates that I could get behind!

Either way, I'm looking forward to a real election this time. Last election the choices were between Dumb, Warmongering, Bible Beating Guy and Pansy-Ass, Say Anything the Public Wants to Hear, Upitty Blue New England States Guy. Talk about feeling like you didn't have a real choice. There are third parties, but they really need to spend some time winning local elections before going for the Presidency. You don't form a new band and then walk into the Byrce Jordan Center to play a gig two weeks after.

I was going to start another thread with this post, but I'll wait until closer to the elections.

I think about 80% of people vote for a president based on looks, whether they admit it or not.

They judge by ........ He looks like a president should look. Confident, tall, good looking, presidential.

Since we will be looking for some calm AFTER the storm, my bet is with McCain. Strictly based on looks. He looks calm and under control and that is what people will want two years from now.

I'll pull up this thread two years from now and see if I'm right.

Any thoughts ?
