I think realistically that the RIAA once in awhile decides to make an example out of someone, in hopes of scaring enough people straight... it would be utterly impossible for them to track down and prosecute everyone who downloads something illegally. so i think you will be ok Myke.
I don't get the Mirror, was this a local/regional story or a national one?
How many people do you personally know who have been prosecuted for downloading? I don't know anyone... I'm not saying this didn't happen, just that I personally feel its more of a scare tactic than anything, but I'll have to find a copy of the Mirror and read it.

Yeah, I wouldn't let it bug you. They said long time ago that they could figure out where things come from. You know what that was to me? Total BS. It's simply a series of scare tactics the RIAA is trying to use on people. I think they're mostly worried about people who download thousands upon thousands of songs, then turn around and upload them to everyone they know, and burn thousands of CDs for profit. The rest of the P2P users... What do they care? They won't make their money back off the rest

I agree, I think it is all a bunch of BS scare tactics, oh yea every once in awhile they nail someone to make an example of but your chances of being that person are SO slim. A lot of people are scared by this and have given up downloading because of it...it surprises me how many believe it. Was this a local person that got caught? Did not see the article.

i don't have that paper anymore. They originally went after the mother, then switched to the oldest daughter. It was a Federal judge who issued the decision . I believe in the state of New York.ZappasXWife wrote:I agree, I think it is all a bunch of BS scare tactics, oh yea every once in awhile they nail someone to make an example of but your chances of being that person are SO slim.
