i say there should be more boobs involved.. maybe it is just me but i like a good boob shot when i am watching tv..some side boob or the mysterious bottom boob where the shirt only covers the tops of the tit and it looks like it is about to fall out.. or maybe just two chicks kissing (with tounge or it isn't a kiss) or pole dancing.. its on late enough the kiddies are all sleeping!!

but anyway.. keith do you mean in a studio or they come and tape you at a show they set up? they did the whole taping the show part the first season

turned out pretty good... i myself though, like seeing the actual vids i just wish there were more of them on in an episode

I could be wrong but i think what he (SpellBoundbyMetal) meant was the old format where they went to an area business and taped them talking then alternated that with usually live videos of the band... back when each episode was devoted to a single band and they interviewed the band etc... like when second offense was on it... you remember... anyway I think he was saying he would rather see like a "FarmClub" type of performance... where the band comes in and plays, which is what I would also like to see in the future.

The new format is like Chris/Kathy on a sound stage backdrop talking and they play actual videos that bands have sent in to them. All different styles of music. I don't get a chance to watch the show much because im either out doing something (fri and sat) or asleep (thursday and sunday).

I respect what Chris and everyone at UGTV has been doing for local music.

yeah a farm club type set up would be awesome...i personally would like to get a place (old bar) and turn it into a studio/bar that way we could just have everyone come to us and have bands play and drinking and such but we needs money to back that up...and we are not millionaires...so they do what they can with the money they got

metal

Post by zman1200 »

Gee, I can remember when metal was about hard pounding music, no money and drinking beer with Anthrax, Metal Church, etc. because they were just as broke as I was. Leavin' work on Friday afternoon, cashing my paycheck and going to an old closed-down movie theater where the exit doors were boarded shut and idiots burning seat cushions. Sounds like those days are gone and political correctness is in.

A lot of my friends out of state used to read rockpage, but most of them have moved on. The content seemed to be too much personal issues among a few people controling the board and not truly an open forum.

I also remember when Rockpage went to the current format, for the first year or so, it was mainly dominated by pro and semi-pro level musicians (and cool fans too, of course). I'm not one to pine for the "good ole' days," but it was nice that the majority of people back then had a clue about this business. Sometimes I read something on here and just have to say, "What!!!!???? These people can't be serious!"

Once again, I'm having words put in my mouth. That's fine. I know who I am and so does everyone who has ever met me for more than two minutes during a Rockpage Jam at Peter C's. If you don't like what I have to say, that's also fine. Keep in mind, I don't blow smoke up anyone's ass. I'm not here for you to like me, and you've made it clear over the past year that you have a distaste for me. I'm not losing sleep over it. You're welcome to approach me and introduce yourself if you see me out at a show. Maybe then you could find out what I'm all about, because you seem to have me figured out by some words that I throw up on a message board every couple of days.

I think now is the time I’m supposed to say…this thread is locked.

But before I do, several thoughts…

Regarding the situation that led to the first posting on this thread (no, Atomik, you’re not banned), there seems to be plenty of blame to go around in this whole fiasco.

I own three parakeets, and I find that in many cases, the behavior of animals can teach us about the behavior of people. A frequent scenario at my house is that one of the parakeets will do something to get the bird in the neighboring cage squawking, which brings me out to the kitchen to scold the squawker...while the instigating bird sits on his perch and quietly fixes his feathers, acting innocent.

I see something similar happening here on Rockpage, and in this fiasco. I see individuals on both sides of the fence, trying to push the buttons of other folks on this board, either flagrantly or subtly, by posting in a way designed to provoke a response and/or trigger hostility. Whether it’s starting threads with the intent of provoking certain members of this board to respond, or posting responses and/or hijacking threads in a confrontational manner to incite flame wars; they're all ultimately forms of trolling, which isn't permitted on this board.

For the folks directly involved in this dispute, I recommend that you carefully read the rules governing this board, rules YOU ALL AGREED TO when you first signed on to be a member of this website:

http://www.rockpage.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=20

Considering that this site has 2,287 registered members and that the rules post has been read only 291 times, it appears that a lot of you need to take a moment and read the rules. We do tend to enforce them here on Rockpage.

As far as this flame war, I really could care less who posted what or who PM'ed who or who dissed who on Myspace to start it; bottom line, I'm ending it. I'm locking this thread, and to the primary participants who want to continue this argument, do it in PM's or take it back to Myspace and continue it. It doesn't belong here, on a site that once upon a time was put here as a resource for the LOCAL MUSIC COMMUNITY... (For the Underground TV discussion, feel free to continue that in “The Underground” section of this forum.)

To those who feel persecuted because I'm laying down the law as adminstrator, I have no personal agenda in this. My interest is in the smooth operation of Rockpage, and to do my best to ensure that it continues to be a beneficial asset to the local music community. Flame wars, bickering, thread hijacking and the posting of subject matter inappropriate to the board doesn't make this board better, it brings it down.

And, at the expense of conceding that I do listen to a sports-talk radio program on a station other than the one that I work for, I'm going to borrow some wisdom from Jim Rome and apply it to Rockpage. Listeners to his show know that Rome professes a mantra to his audience daily, for listeners who wish to call in to the show..."Have a take and don't suck, or you'll get run!" The premise is simple...don't call in to the show unless you have something to say that can positively contribute to and enhance the program. If you call in with a stupid or bogus comment that brings down the program, you "get run," meaning that Rome or his production assistants give you the buzzer and cut you off in mid-call.

I think that "have a take and don't suck" should apply to Rockpage, too. Before posting or starting a thread, ask yourself the question: Will my post be interesting to the readership of Rockpage, and will it be beneficial to this website or the Rockpage community? Or is it going to clutter up the board and waste readers' time, or trigger a flame war?

Jim Rome often explains to his listeners that if they have to think about whether their "take" is worth calling in to the program, that it probably isn't, and that they shouldn't call in. Likewise, if you have trouble deciding if a post is appropriate for Rockpage, then it probably isn't.

And although Rome's show is a sports talk show, he does allow other topics from time to time, features the occasional rock star or actor as a guest, and discusses some topics not pertaining to sports. Likewise on Rockpage, although music is our focus, we do allow discussion of other topics outside of music...within reason. Ron and I try to be lenient with subjects discussed here; we'll allow a lot of different things to be discussed, to a limit. When people try to take this site down the toilet with blatantly objectionable and/or obscene posts and threads, we draw the line and clean things up...just like Rome does on his show. So think again if you feel so inclined to post such stuff here, because this site is not going there. Period.

End of rant...and beginning of lock. Or since I've invoked Jim Rome here, I'll do a manual buzzer...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
