I stand corrected, Danette! Guys AND gals certainly have sacrificed, and as a former fly-boy, I should have noted that. Thanks... for everything.--------->JMS

Just had to add my 2 cents....I am not a big sports fan unless it is wwe. So I didn't even watch the super bowl because there was a conflict of interest with a marathon of charmed on spike tv....but anyways...I like Kid Rock don't ask me why...lol...but I wouldn't have taken offense to the flag thing...That was him just being patriotic in his own way...and on the other side of it with the JJ thing...Not that i an against seein her boobs, but that really wasnt the time or place for it and I don't think it was "accidental".... Timberlake I never liked...although I wouldn't have minded BEING him during his Brittany Stint  or even now with Cameron Diaz "thats this week right?" :D ...lol.....I'm done, Thanks for listening.

Well, with the FCC's impending investigation i think CBS knew damn well what was gonna happen with JJ. Isnt there a 7 second lapse even on live broadcasts? If so they could have pulled it like they did with the streaker running onto the field. Seems to coincidental for me...
Perhaps this will be the event that sends the MTV sleaze culture on a tailspin along with rap and hip-hop and give the music business the enema that it needs.
Amen to that!

On the flag thing, Kid Rock gets a pass from me on that cause he actually hauled his rebel ass out and did some USO tours, going to far off lands to perform for and hang with our service men and women, I wish more performers had done that back when I was in the service. USO does not pay performers so he went out there on his own dime, I think that's cool. So I can cut him slack on that, I think he was just tryin to wave ol glory around in a way that wasn't trite.

As to Janet, well, I think Jon Stewart said it best. Punxatawny Phil saw Janet's tit so there will be 6 more weeks of masturbation.

C'mon, she was wearing a pasty, it was planned, duh. It's clear to me that these pop pushers have run out of ideas. "A wardrobe Malfunction?", Pull-eeze That's the lamest excuse since "I didn't inhale". It could have been worse, it could have been Roseanne.

I didn't get to see the half time show, but read up on it. Seeing something like this broadcasted on public TV disgusts me. I hope this is the start of a turn around for music and music starts becoming music again. Putting on a show and building up hype is one thing, but to take it to the extremes that bands and artists are these days is sickening and uncalled for. Think of what impact this having on the younger generation and it keeps getting worse. As I said, I hope this incident starts that turn around point.

Well here's something that I have been pondering since Sunday. I watched the half time show, I didn't notice that she was exposed. I mean, I saw him rip off a piece of clothing and didn't think anything of it, and I didn't see anything. So either I was too far away from the tv or I am that desensitized by the boob tube (pun intended). Monday when everyone was talking about it, I was like, "yeah I watched it, don't remember seeing anything out of the ordinary" Maybe I need glasses. But anyway for those of us who didn't see it, can they stop airing it on shows now and talking about it? If it offends you so much, then why are you continuing to show it? I think it was the Today show the other day, they kept showing the video footage. I'm sorry I can't remember which one of you said this, it may have been Fat Vin, but they did take the cameras off of the streaker so why couldn't they have done it for Miss Jackson? Media corruption.

In case you didn't hear about the latest fallout stemming from the Super Bowl halftime debacle, Clearchannel suspended the Howard Stern show indefinitely because of indecency. At least indirectly blame it on Janet, Justin, and any behind-the-scenes co-conspirators for starting the ball rolling...

On one hand, I hope that the music industry does straighten up a bit, and steer away from soft porn gimmickry and back to the music itself. But on the other hand, I see this as the potential prelude to another era of the PMRC/Tipper Gore/Washington Wives crap from the 80's, and rock bands getting sued because their lyrics supposedly made some impressionable kid kill himself.

What do you think?

I agree with you, Jim. But at least we don't have to worry about the great bands getting in trouble these days. Most of the bands these days aren't worth multiple listens, and if they are they won't be the ones stripping off clothes. I do see overprotection and limits in the horizon. Sad.

Good point, Jim. Sadly we don't have Frank Zappa around now to help fight the battle.

Adding my .02
Slight warning. I'm not racist or unpatriotic. I'm just giving an opinion. Please don't take offense. Now then, going to dig myself a hole.

First off.. it's not a pastey. She has big bertha pierced. Okay.. add to the nightmares for another month. Justin dated her for a while, so it was a big play act. Don't you think he's still trying to get back as SpeareBrittany? I think so. Oooo..I'm going to write "Cry me a river" and nudge people into thinking it might be about you. Then I am going to date Christina A. for a while. A big foe of yours. Then you will retaliate by writing a song about me and going after some other "hottie". Then I will go back on stage and prance around with the chick I was banging on the side for a while there. And since she owes me something, I'll get to publically "embarass" her, all the while helping her out with her sale for her new tunes since she was such a good sport. All the while I will corrupt your children, make your husbands minds stray, and... well.. give Esa nightmares for the rest of her life. Muah ha ha! One evil bastage.

Another thing: I have a flag bikini that I've been wearing now for the past four or five years. Still fits (thank God), a little faded, and I hate shopping to begin with, so I still wear it. Is that controversial? "Well, it's not a real flag." True. But it's the image of it. I think Kid Rock was doing what everyone does: Expressing himself. I doubt he said to himself that morning, "There will be millions of people watching me today. Wonder how many of them I can piss off." I love my flag. It's beautiful. I've also been told I look pretty hott in it. I like it for looks and because I can be "patriotic" too. Patriotic or just because it's a sight to behold, the flag is a marvelous thing. So, I give him props. Not like he was an asshole from NYC (I think?) that likes slapping animal shit on a picture of the Mother of God and deams it art. Now if Kid would have ripped it, burned it, put any sort of shyte on it durring his performance....then rip his small intestine out. He'd deserve it. But for people to get upset about a little thing like that? Rediculous. Go and discuss something that needs changed.

I also wish the music would be more blended. I don't like Timberlake. But many people do. I liked Kid. Some people hate him. Why can't we get a performance with a little bit of everything. A collage of Spears, Collins, Rock, Slipknot, Twain, Yahni...etc. Just.. rock things up a little. So that it's not always this soft hip hop rock shake yo' booty stuff. Change it up some.

Anymore I watch the superbowl for the commercials. The last real superbowl game I watched was between Pittsburgh and Green Bay. (Cool Quantum Leap co-inki-dink there). And.. yeah. I know.. I get yelled at for team choices. Hush. Anyways...Half times shows are getting bigger and bigger. Few ever sing their own music anymore. I understand lip syncking over dubs for some parts (hanging upside may not make singing easy), but for the most part.. Sing! That's what got you there. I give props to the Anthem singers. Sometimes I wish they'd plain it down a bit..but still. Props to those that actually sing it.

And my last feeling is this: I doubt we'll have to worry too much about what's going on music wise on T.V. in twenty years. Look at MTV. For a while most people considered it NTV (please no offense, just saying it because we've all heard that line) and now it's all Cribs and Reality shows. The music on the music networks is leaving. We have to have an MTV2 to actually hear music. VH1 is losing alot of their things (where the hell did my pop up videos go?!?) to I love the 80's. Cool show..but what does twister have to do with Cindy Lauper? Just you wait. Years from now we'll be watching T.V. and see someone with a walkman going down the street. Our children will ask us what that is and we'll have to tell them it's the toaster of CD/MP3 Players.

That brings on a whole 'nother rant there. What happened to our children being children? When you were able to tell adults by their clothes and kids by theirs? Now we've got people of all shapes, sizes, ages, etc trying to fit into size 1 ::gags:: low riding bells and halter tops. When you could go dance like a white guy( frog in blender moves) and not worry about how you're not wrything in time. ::shakes head:: At least I can go into hot topic and see my childhood everywhere. And I can put on Grumpy Bear things if I want to. Muah ha ha.
Sex seems to be the big seller. Forget musical talent. Forget being yourself. Outter beauty. Thazzit. If you're plain or refuse to follow the trend, step aside and prepare yourself to be ostrecized and hated. I'm no stupid size 1 and I'm proud of it.

That's it. I'm done. Sorry it was so long.

Janet was just expressing herself artistically. She did that performance with passion and emotion. REMEMBER THAT!!!!!!!!

Glad to see some people are starting to think and question

don't act like Janet Jackson's performance was artistic or musically genius. Basically she just lip synced an old hit of hers and "bumped and grinded" with J. Timberlake. I thought to myself "why are these losers on stage right now?" even before JT ripped off her clothes.

She should never appear as a musical performer on TV again, not because of the incident, but because she sucks the fat one in 2004.

I wonder what Howard Stern thinks of Janet? He's the one currently paying the price for her pissing off the FCC.

My fear is that years from now We'll be watching T.V. and see someone actually playing a musical instrument of some kind and our children will ask us what he is doing.

More blended? I don't think so, trying to please everybody is what got us into this mess in the first place. At first, they pleased the old and the republican with lame but inoffensive things like "Up with People" and "the muppets" and stuff like that, then it was one artist, then two and finally it became these multi-generational, all star studded, lip-synced, suck-tacualrs because the record companies and the ad machine saw that people actually watched this crap.

I'm not saying that you DIDN"T see the Steelers play the Packers in the Super Bowl, but please tell me what you were smoking just before you did.

Sorry Esa, while I agree with a lot of what you said I had to tease you the teams

Okay, Seriously

Unlike more than a few of you, I'm old enough to remember a time before MTV, when to see a band on the tube was at least enough to make ya say "whoa, cool" and watch for a few minutes. Radio was the only way to hear something new, and all it had to be was good. You didn't have to pierce your nipple, you didn't have to pierce your nose. The music, in and of itself, was enough to move us.

While I too, miss those days, when a band's music mattered more than their hairdo, those days are gone now. Stomping on your Janet Jackson CD's won't bring them back. Suspending Howard Stern won't bring them back, and Congressional Hearings, sure as hell, won't bring them back.

Interesting point tho about MTV and VH-1, neither show videos anymore not like in the old days, that's kind of the point, people get sick of vidoes, but songs, great songs last forever, ever notice how when people talk about pre-video-era songs, it ususally some memory, of what they were doing and who they were with, but with later songs, they talk about the video.

I'm not saying that everything pre-videos was cool and everything since then sucks I'm saying that MTV changed thigs and not for the better.

Wow.. you not only knocked my two favorite teams and you knocked my voting party, but you did the most unforgiveable thing... Blasphemy. You mocked the genious which is known as, Jim Hensons "Muppets." ::shakes head:: Ohhh... you, me, rope, a bottle of honey, a whip, and several angry ants will have to have conversation sometime.
::giggles::

Well.. You do remember.. one line summed it up completely. "Video Killed the Radio Star...we can't rewind we've come too far..." How true is that?
