Hmmm, I think I'll decline to reply to this category, just in case karma should come back to bite me on the ass. You know how that works . . . you complain too much about songs you are sick of playing, then you turn around and have a massive hit song with the worst tune you ever wrote and are doomed to play it endlessly for the rest of your career.

BTW, the coolest local version I ever saw of that song was by Vinyl Tap, because the bass player did cool pops in certain places. I wish I were a better slapper.

Wow! That was me! Thanks!

It sucks when the band is no longer together and ya find out somebody actually liked it! I guess thats the way it is.

"Also any ac/dc "

Absolutely.

Gel-Collective Soul
Cumbersome-Seven Mary Three
Rockin' In the Free World-Neil Young

Alot of 'em listed ("Freebird", for example) I've been lucky enough to never
have played but still can't stand 'em, and cringe when anyone does play them.

Quite possibly the worst to hear, and I'd imagine play, though, is "Old Time Rock
and Roll". Arrgghhh!!!!

I can't think of any songs that I never want to play again. Only ones that I never played in the 1st place. How about Cheesburgers In Paradise?

I don't understand why Free Bird gets a bum rap. I haven't heard anybody play it in years and I haven't heard anybody do it right in almost 30 years. It has 3-4 more chords than the typical rock song and it requires good slide guitar skills to do it properly. So what is up with that?

Is there some problem with playing the most requested songs?

How many songs would be left if you took out every song about a girl or about love?

My guess is like 19.

start singing songs about mass murder or suicide...

tell you what, write a song, make sure it has heavy ass death metal riffs and breakdowns, and call it "save your scrotum, glock the groupie"... i would back that so hard

Well, if you play the same 20 songs everybody else does, it's harder to distinguish yourself. But there will usually be some songs you play as a bond of goodwill between yourself and the audience. It's only a chore if you let it get to you. I'm generally zoned out into musicland on stage anyway; if you quizzed me at the end of a set about which 12 songs I just played, I might remember half of them.

Although if I never have to play Eruption again, it won't bother me one bit.

I agreed with lonewolf. I will play any & all of the songs listed that I'm able & will try the ones that I don't if it makes people in the audience happy. I mean, that's part of the main reason that I'm there, right?
Whether it be Sweet Home Alabama, Brown Eyed Girl, Roadhouse Blues, Some Kinda Wonderful, Break-up Song, whatever. I mean the band is going to be playing different songs that set them apart from others as well.
I'm getting paid to play & hopefully people have a good time & can be happy for awhile so I'll gladly do the deed to be a part of it. I think that it's all in the way you look at it. I try to have a positive outlook & make the song my own with my style of playing & keep it fresh. You get to play your instrument & that's always a good thing regardless if you have to play beater songs or choose a mix of songs nobody knows (why?) or even originals. And lets not forget that maybe wanting people to come back & see your band again is another factor in this whole deal.
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
