Cowher leaving

Post by rreihart »

Pretty much as expected. He clearly didn't have the same passion and emotion this season, if you ask me.

It’s rumored that the Rooneys are interested in Kirk Ferentz (Iowa), who is a local boy. Still, I’d like to see the Whiz and Grimm stay, but the coaching vacancy in Atlanta really changes things.

Lets just hope it's someone even close to Cowher.

Either Grimm or Wisenhunt would be excellent choices. Grimm already is the assisstant head coach. It's going to be hard to replace Cowher but, it's kind of like when Big Ben came in. There is a lot of talent there so it would be really hard to fuck it up badly. It could definitely be done but, it's a situation where a coach doesn't have to rebuild from scratch.

That wouldn't be as bad as gettin Denny Green. He couldn't do shit with any of the talent he had in Arizona.

I think Wis would be the best choice. He's young and he seems like a pretty intense kind of guy. Ala young Cowher. Its probably for the best that Bill's leaving. They need a fresh approach. I always liked Cowher, but I think he always went into 'Ball Controll' mode to early in games. Its come back to bite him a few times. Im not saying install the West Coast offense (which I cant stand), but if your up by ten at the half, go for the throat. I think Wis would be that kind of guy.

That's because it's the Cardinals.

Green actually did very well in Minnesota.

I'd like to see a coach who, when its 2nd and 1, would opt to

GO DEEP!!!!

Instead of running for the 1st down.

Going into ball control mode is how he won games. You get ahead and you stay ahead by keepin the ball. I want a better secondary on defense.

Hell yeah, I second that. It's been a long time since the Steelers could truly shut down a great passing team for a whole a game and do it consistently for a whole season. I guess I got spoiled with Rod Woodson, Carnell Lake, etc.
