So I was thinking about this earlier. The past few Ever Since Yesterday shows I've been to, I've seen a few familiar faces. People that just recently started up their bands...people that have been successful with their bands...and people in mid-band transit. And I thought, "Geeze...that's the goods. And they're digging their sound. Cool. Definitely definitely cool." And then I take a step back and consider how many bands he and I have gone to see and wound up getting attachments to the band members and significant others. That too is really cool. I wouldn't have that if we wouldn't have decided to check the circuit for "something new" to go hear and watch.
I think it's pretty important to go and support each other. You know...after a show or break go up and say, "Hey man, I'm ______ from ________ and just wanted to let you know what I thought about your tunes." Something like that. It's a great confidence boost to the band and those that have put a million hours of hard work into the band.
The greatest thing I've heard so far is, "I don't really dig that kind of music...but for ear bleading, it was pretty good." "Oh, so you liked it?" "What did you say? I didn't hear you." You don't have to be into the kind of music they play, but support is support. And that's the goods. Plus, they might turn you over to the darkside and broaden your musical tastes. Muah ha ha ha ha ha!
And having said that, when I said ear bleading, how many of you thought of Heavy Metal/Rock music? Wouldn't you be surprised if I said Country. Lol. (Nothing against country at all.. I'm kidding.)

I agree completely. I do indeed try to go out and see other bands, and when I do, I make it a pint to talk to the artists that just completed their set. I even go out and see small 3 piece acoustic groups at smaller venues and lounge type places. i do not travel as much as I would like to see bands in State college, Altoona, etc., but i don make an effort. It is very important and that is the great thing about ROCKPAGE. we all get to network together and see when different bands are playing different venues. Great things to come I'm sure!
