Yngwie Malmsteen knows little or no theory but, you'd be hard pressed to find a more elitest type guitarist....

Really, I didn't know that about Yngwie. I thought he composed some of the string arrangements in his songs; and a lot of them have loads of counter-point going on. I know that he taught himself.

He is an elitist mofo, though. Funny he is, because there's about a million players that could smoke him. (Vai, Satch, Petrucci, Beck, MacAlpine) A lot of Yngwie's playing just sounds like sweeped arpegios to my ears. I still dig a lot of his playing though; I just wish he would play slow down and let the melody breathe, sometimes.

Oh well......Release the F***ing Fury!!!!

his counterpoint is mostly sped up bach licks if you really listen...lol...yeah, he has an amazing vibrato when he slows down, althought with a scalloped fretboard, it helps those things...
