The K in Kramer stands for Ku Klux Klan?
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
that's disgraceful. usually when a comic is getting heckled they're usually so witty they can put someone in check pretty quick. that was totally inappropriate and unprofessional, especially from a seasoned vet like the k-man. he could have started with some your ma ma stuff , see how that went, and then into the "N" stuff if need be. just kiddin. he's probobly done now career wise. hopefully he banked some of that sienfeld doe cuz i think the stand-up stuff might have to go on hold. for a while. that shit is so uncool that people don't forget about it. he's done. fuckin dip-shit.
He wigged. It's come out that the targets of his tirade were heckling him the whole set... it wouldn't be a good idea to do that to me, either, but I wouldn't throw the racist card. I thought he was trying to be edgy at first... if you remember his "Fridays" days, he has a very weird sense of humor that I seldom "got" back then... he really bloomed during "Seinfeld," where he was tightly directed.
I look for him to spiral downhill from here.------->JMS

—Usage note The term nigger is now probably the most offensive word in English. Its degree of offensiveness has increased markedly in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since at least the Revolutionary War. Definitions 1a, 1b, and 2 represent meanings that are deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense.
Definition 3, however, is sometimes used among African-Americans in a neutral or familiar way. Definition 3 is not normally considered disparaging—as in “The Irish are the niggers of Europe” from Roddy Doyle's The Commitments—but the other uses are considered contemptuous and hostile.
–noun 1. Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive.
a. a black person.
b. a member of any dark-skinned people.
2. Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive. a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc.
3. a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised.
I don't condone what he did, but it would at least be interesting to hear his side of the story. From the sounds of things it sounds like the heckler in the video may have fit definition two very nicely.
Kramer a racist? possibly, perhaps not. His comments were intended to cause harm, that is for sure, but hatred of the entire black race based on one guy thats obviously being a dick to him? thats not nessesarily cause and effect there. Disliking a black man that just punched you in the face does not make you a racist, disliking the black man you just met does.

Damn, this is a total shocker. I remember growing up watching him on Seinfeld and always thinking he made the entire show (basically because everyone elses humor was too dry for my liking). Now seeing him like this gives me a whole new perspective. When i look at this, i realize that even Carlos Mencia has a line which he doesnt cross. Yes, he makes racial jokes, but not on a personal level like that. Im disappointed.

Giddy-up ...
Hey, it's the Seinfeld curse. All he was doing was making sure his career doesn't just go down in flames ... he destroyed it was a nuclear (I mean "nu-cu-ler") explosion.
Actually, if you've ever seen the footage of the Andy Kauffman incident on "Fridays," he lost his cool then, too. I think the earlier comment about him being tighly scripted on Seinfeld is fairly pertinent. I think he has the ability to act like an idiot, which is his schtick, but he lacks the sense of humor to go with that talent, which results in these kinds of displays.

devil's advocate
how many of you are offended by the term white trash? cracker? white devil? why is it that anyone can say anything about the white race and no one says anything? could you imagine if there was a white version of BET that proudly boosts for a white america and/or everything of any other nationallity was almost nihl? and a mention in even a remotely derogatory fashion of another race though sparks rage and an uprise from many cultures.
i am not in anyway saying that this was a remotely derogatory instance though.. he went way the fuck overboard.. there is no need for racism or prejudice against anyone blacks, hispanics, chinese, jewish, mentally handicapped.. and the list goes on just about for ever.
i have friends that are black.. i look up to people who are black. my friend Shonn owns Face off musik where we recorded our cd for example. I grew up near 5th ward (around St Leo's church and Booker T Basketball court) There were alot of blacks in the area we were all cool together. the blood is all the same color
but now answer honestly...
a person of small stature (a midget or dwarf) starts to heckle you at a show very horribly and unrelenting you brush him off and he continues do you mention his height in retaliation?
i know if this was a person fo bigger stature some of the rockpagers have shown their dislike for heavier people and it is more than apparent that doragatory phrases and slurs would come out about that
many of you have proven to dislike gays (or at the very least you make remarks to that extent).. well you are going to say then that you would not say faggot?
let he who is free of sin cast the first stone!

I've often said people would freak out if someone started a "Caucasion College Fund" or "White Entertainment Television." As far as being insulted if someone called me a "cracker", I could care less. WTF does that mean anyway.
Saltine? Whip cracker? I think there's alot of reverse discrimination going on too. Like having to have a certain % of minority workers, etc...
You can't have it both ways. Either everyone should be treated equally or not!
And yes, I think "Kramer" was way over the line.

WHO FUCKIN CARES??!! get over it. I grew up and went to school with alot of different people too. blah blah blah. not everyone is gonna like one another. EVERYONE keeps racism and hate alive. not just WHITE people. Anyone who thinks different is a moron.
Dont be so sensetive. Black people arent offended when their friends or fav comedians talk about them and call them the "horrible" words. Hispanic/mexican people fuckin LOVE that Carlos Mencia guy and all he does is call them out in a 'racist' way. i dont get it!!!
i agree with Bag!!!!
A friend of mine tried to start a White Student Organization at *insert large local University name here* and the office that oversees clubs and organizations wouldn't even give him the paperwork to fill out for approval. He wasn't trying to create a white group in a spiteful or hateful way, either. He was trying to prove the exact point above. He was very close to suing, he has 2-3 lawyers in his family.Bag wrote:I've often said people would freak out if someone started a "Caucasion College Fund" or "White Entertainment Television."

At first I thought Richards was trying to do something in the Lenny Bruce/ Andy Kauffman "angry comic" vein. If he was, it imploded. I think he just lost it. I think he went too far for sure. The race thing wasn't necessary, but then again I think a lot of things that become racial issues are unnecessary. I really hope the media lets this thing die, it's not worth the bullshit that will come from it.
On another note, during my first stint in school I was sort of offended that Penn State allowed an all African-American fraternity to charter itself. I inquired about starting an all "Euro-American" fraternity in response (like I'd ever join any fraternity), guess how far that got. There is certainly a politically correct paradox in this country regarding race. I sometimes just like to point out how absurd it really is. As a citizenry we are divided on a lot more important issues than race. I wish we could get past it. Am I proud of my cultural heritage? Probably moreso than most people you'll meet, but I think we should all be proud of our cultural heritages. I don't think any one racial pride should eclipse anybody else's ability to manifest their own form of it. In the end, it's about what we are doing as individuals that is the most important aspect anyway.[/b]

Damn Jason, I couldn't agree more!Gallowglass wrote: In the end, it's about what we are doing as individuals that is the most important aspect anyway.[/b]
I really don't have any stance on the issue at hand. That's why I just posted up the link and said, "Discuss." I think that since Richards is in the entertainment industry, as is most of us, it would create some interesting discussion; and it did do just that. I agree with a lot of the points that many people have made in the thread about double-standards and what not. I too would have liked to have seen the whole scenario from when the hecklers started until the end of Richard's tirade.
Some good thoughs here.

What kills me is when people get offended more or less according to how it's in print. The "N word", "n*****", or "nigger". No matter how it's written, the brain reads the same thing. Also, I have to say this kind of thing is a two way street. If it were a black comic shouting racist remarks at some white guys that were heckling, it wouldn't have gotten near the attention. Wait till Al Sharpton starts running his trap about it.

I'd have tried to join (provided I met whatever the other requirements were) and then thrown a royal stink when I was refused.

no one would know anything about it.. it never would have left the room unless someone said how funny they thought it was in passing to a friend just talking about their night

I didn't watch the clip, but I read the article and have to say what he did was wrong. Not because of the nature, just because it wasn't professional.
Chris Rock said it best "See, there's black people....then theres niggas. A black person will reach out, and help his fellow brotha. A nigga will rob you, then say to you "Heard you got robbed!"
I just hate seeing people, especially white people, getting crucified for making a "racial" slurr when other races can say whatever they please and it generally goes by without even a word. I think if he was get pinned against the wall, we should be able to turn around and do the same thing. Turn about is fair play as far as I am concerned.
So yeah, he was in the wrong.
