Equip.
It's a little tough getting a good sound.
I am useing a 1/4 "Y" jack and plugging 2 Mics, 1 - Vocals Mic and 1 - Guitar Mic directly into PC sound card.
I do not have a mixing board just some, not so good, software on my computer.
I feel I'm getting a decent tone on other songs using a MXL Large Diaphargm Condenser Mic for Guitar.
For Vocals I'm using a cheap "AudioSpectrum"(Guessing it's a dynamic mic.).
Hard to do full tracks and not have seperate vocals/music tracks to tweek.
Would getting a 4 or 8 track board help?

what software are you using? if it can't multitrack im sure you can probably download a copy or demo of some software that will let you mulitrack.
I think not having the ability to do so is probably holding you back somewhat. As i would be using that condensor on both the voice and guitar on separate tracks you could edit or re-record individually.
Your writiing and performance is good.
TIP: You can make a pop filter for about $3.00 by getting an embroidery hoop from a craft store and stretching some panty hose over it. Maybe your wife/gf has some of these things laying around you can steal... Looks kinda funny but it works just as good.

I am using "audacity" freeware, It records multi tracks but each time you mix and render it garbles things up...Heartless_Mockery_Records wrote:what software are you using? if it can't multitrack im sure you can probably download a copy or demo of some software that will let you mulitrack.

I am happy if you can just understand the lyrics? Past attempts at vocals I did couldn't even be understood.

Record
Are you using headphones?
Every track will come over the last if you are not.
I know that's obvious, but sometimes you overlook the simple stuff.
I've made excellent recordings with cheap programs.
Adjusting the levels of your mikes input changes everything too?
