Local Music(Altoona)

Post by FretBored »

Local Music(Altoona):

OK so I am looking thru the show schedules and trying to find somewhere to take my wife to see some local bands.

I am suprised that almost all shows are out of town.

Now I am kinnda gettin' up in years and the wife listens to WALLY(?). But I would really like to see something good and not worry about driving out of town to see someone(Since I like to knock back a couple beers and shots whilst out.).

What the hell has happended to live music in A-Town.

Anyway if we get to a show at the Post or The Bar or 4 Ds... or who the hell knows where! I'll introduce myself.

Makes me want to buy a big wharehouse and a beer license near the tracks and have bands all week long.

Are you looking for this weekend? Or Thanksgiving eve? If it's the latter, we're playing City Limits the 22nd. Come on out and see us. If it's this weekend, hope you find someplace cool to go.

Fretbored, there is a great band playing Zach's on Saturday night (11/18)called the Syrins....if your wife likes oldies she will like them. They play GOOD oldies (of course better than what Wally plays) like Beatles and other British Invasion stuff, some songs I have NEVER heard a band attempt...we thought they were very good!

Songs you hear on Q-94 (without the commercials) tonight at Aldo's. You will probably know every tune. It's always a good time!

I think we are heading to Burgi's tonight to see:

The Jimmy Adler Band http://www.myspace.com/thejimmyadlerband

November, 18 2006 at Burgi's Roundhouse
1830 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA 16602

Blues band from Pitt. Anybody ever see him?

And does anybody know if someone local is opening?

Hell, I might as well take this opportunity for shameless self promotion. It's not very often you get to blatantly promote in the general forum.

November 25th
City Limits
Altoona (Greenwood)
8:30 p.m.
Toys for Tots Benefit

Felix and the Hurricanes (Blues/Southern Rock)
Fed UP (All original Punk-infused Metal)
Silver Sunday (Rock/80s/Alternative)
Bad Daze (Modern Rock/80s Pop Metal)
Fayted (Straight Up Rock)

Admission: $10 or toy of equal value.

You know how some music magizines send a CD sampler every month with up and coming artists? Look at this as the music sampler of the Altoona scene. Five very diverse bands for the price of a toy. Come on out and support a great cause.

Right "Cane" they kicked ass. No top 40 only a few covers. If you know your Rock/Blues/Jazz history it was a place to be.

Sad thing was is was just my wife and I sitting in a front booth at 1:00 AM.

Jimmy came and talked for a bit, we bought him a beer and thanked him for the awesome show.

Even though the house was dead they still played like they was at Bryce.

By the way he did mention playing with Felix and the Canes and it was all positive.

Hey, cool Fret~
Great guys, great band they are. We didnt have much of a crowd either so seems like the blues crowd was sleepy this night.
Shame when a band like this comes around theres no one out to see them, typical Altoona response.
