Wow is the world getting fat.
I was out Christmas shopping the other day and I made the observation that the people are quite a bit fatter than they used to be when I was a kid. So this fact was on my mind and I drew up my own conclusion that the world is probably fatter because of the internet, video games and other increases in technology.
So I decided to waste some time perusing rockpage, looking at band pictures and whatnot. Damn there are a lot of big boys on our very own rockpage. So I was wondering, does playing an instrument contribute to weight gain. This is a serious problem plaguing our nation that needs addressed. Its sad to see someone in what should be the prime of their life having health problems due to weight.

I agree that obesity is a major problem plaguing Americans. Another problem I see is poor grammar skills. We are passing legislation requiring foreigners to speak English, yet many Americans cannot even speak proper English themselves. Throughout my day, I must contend with double negatives, hanging modifiers, and the vilest grammatical error of rural Pennsylvania: The use of the non-word "ain't."
I think that our schools need to teach both healthy eating habits along with proper grammar skills. That is the only way that we will transcend ignorance and rise to a new level of punctuation.

If plain and proper English is what you seek, I am the purveyor of such. You're welcome.

Yes, but I think that being gay, along with healthy eating habits and proper grammar skills is disgusting.brokenstrings wrote:Bastardized words sometimes find their way into the language and subsequently into the dictionary. But on a similar note, being openly gay is quite socially acceptable
How can you exercise proper grammar skills while being gay and eating?
I guess that is one for Capt. Grammer to figure out.

I like food, I also like work.
I'm fat. I personally don't give a flying fuck what some fucking redneck police officer thinks. So if you don't like fat people I say don't associate with them. But I will be considerate and do your mom doggystyle so I dont break her back.

I just got home from watching the band Fuzzy Bunny Slippers at the 4D's. They're a party and covers band, doing music that gets people dancing.
One thing that stood out for me was watching their singer, Marci. This lady is very physically fit and well-conditioned. At several times during the show, when she was singing lead, Marci was singing while she was jumping up and down on stage, and you could not hear her voice quiver or shudder once! This lady had some serious voice control!
Which leads me to ask this question: How important is physical conditioning to you with regards to your music or live show? Is it important at all, or do you only notice it if you get winded while doing a gig? Or if you're doing a more aggressive form of music, does performing the music constitute the workout itself? What role does being physically fit play in being able to perform? Discuss...

In any situation or endeavor, being in shape is an advantage over not being in shape. This is especially true for high En-R-Gy musical performance.Jim Price wrote:Which leads me to ask this question: How important is physical conditioning to you with regards to your music or live show? Hi En-R-Gy vocal performance for 3-4 hours is an aerobic workout that is hard to beat.
Low En-R-Gy (the proverbial statue) playing doesn't require as much physical conditioning, but doing vocals with proper breathing techniques makes for a decent aerobic workout.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...

I know that I am fat, but I can still run around on stage, and im not afraid to move for fear of my voice wavering or me getting tired too quick. Yea, i do sweat alot when im on stage, but who doesnt? Being fat and active isnt a bad thing, being morbidly obese and doing nothing all day is. The world is getting fat, and working in retail, especially at a computer store, you see a lot more of it than most people do. 70% of our clientele is morbidly obese. As i said, im fat, and im in no way offended by this post because its true.

I understand that one Fretbored. Its difficult for anyone without "the look" to get into the music scene. I dont consider myself to be a sex symbol (except for over in china) and thats whats required these days to be in the music industry. I'm happy with the shape im in, i may not be physically fit but i can hang with the best of them when it comes to putting on a live performance. As long as i can still do that, im happy, and thats all that matters. Now, i think if i ever had to do a show from a motorized wheelchair with my fat hanging over the sides, i would probably shoot myself.
Looks
Dude if you are doing what you like, evn if it's just singing in the shower, have fun and enjoy it. That's what it's all about anyway isn't it.
I don't think I'll see my pic on Billboard magazine someday or ever write a hit record... I'm just having my fun.

They say that the US is the fattest nation on earth. What a shame, no wonder it costs so much to get health insurance. If I were a big boy, I would probably play slower music and use fewer lights at the show. Maybe even share the bill with several other bands so I would not have to exert myself for such a long duration. It’s very sad when you think about all the health problems obesity leads to. There must be an answer for this terrible problem affecting our culture.
