Revolution Wasn't Calling This Night...
Tuesday evening's Queensryche concert at the Palace Theater in Greensburg was cancelled before showtime. Apparently singer Geoff Tate was sick and could not perform. A little Operation: Headcold perhaps?
The Queensryche stage staff informed everybody outside the theater that it would be announced within the next 48 hours whether not the show would be rescheduled for a later date, and information for refunds for tickets.
This show was to feature Queensryche performing both the Operation: Mindcrime and Operation: Mindcrime II albums in their entireity, with surround sound, actors and theatrical set-up.
Several Rockpagers made the trip to Greensburg to learn the bad news, including yours truly, grimmbass, fbooth and baddazeguitar. Here's hoping they reschedule it!

Yeah, musicians are a "game-time decision" sometimes. I hate it when this stuff happens. In my many years of going to shows though, it has only happened a handfull of times.
The two worst for me were Dream Theater/Deep Purple in Camden, NJ in 1998. Luckily the show was a stop on a weekend trip to Atlantic City.
Slayer at Beaver County College (I think that was it?) was theeee worst. It was the first time I was supposed to see Slayer and we got all the way to the venue and found out it was cancelled. What an aweful drive home that night.
If Geoff has any variant of the cold I am currentyl getting over, then I feel for the guy.

In reading through the message boards on Queensryche's website, I guess there were a few sickness bugs flying around when the group recently played in Texas and Baltimore; some of the speculation is that Geoff got nailed by one of those.
While we were waiting for the Palace Theater to open, we headed next door to a place called Rialto's to have a beer and eat. It turned out that one of the local "Empires" of the Queensryche Fan Club had booked the back dining room, and admission was limited to Fan Club members and their parties. Both grimmbass and I are Fan Club members, so our entourage was allowed in. We got to talk to a few other 'Rychers, and I think the head of the "Empire of Steel" (who set it up) handed us all tri-ryche stickers. Pretty cool.

Yeah the cancellation was a bummer but on the upside I got out of work early which never happens anymore, ate some awesome food at Clem's BBQ in Blairsville and enjoyed a couple cold drinks at the tavern next to the theater. Hopefully they'll reschedule cause I'm sure it's a killer show.

I just got off the phone with Ticketmaster, and the guy told me they are rescheduling the show. So I called the Palace Theatre and was told the same thing. They are trying to get another date in November. I was told they should have a date by early next week. I'm not holding my breath, but I will hold onto my tickets till I have a definative answer.
Here's the Palace Theatre's Schedule

They said the new date will be up as soon as it is confirmed.
