2 Bands making some good rock

Post by Banned »

Wolfmother

Buckcherry

Both of these bands are making some of the best rock and roll music right now.

Anyone else have an opinion on these bands?

Buckcherry.. Most overplayed radio band ever.

I swear to god, before Hinder busted out "Lips of an Angel" you couldnt listen to an Alt-Rock radio station for 2 hours without hearing "crazy bitch" three times..

Crazy Bitch is the ultimate central PA girl ass-shake song.. and you ever notice every woman in Central PA has the same general backwoods ass shake, no matter the music.. whether it's AC/DC, Def Leppard, or Jay Z or Chamillionaire or Buck Cherry.. it's the same ass shake for every girl..

Im going to cite Donna (YankeeRose) as the example.. watch Donna 'bust a move' at any show, and it's the same as almost any girl in Central PA.. sorry Donna, I'm not bashing on you, it's just you came into my mind first when citing this, when you were at the House of Cain/Condemned Existence/Eyes of Anguish show back in June =)

I heard Crazy Bitch on XM last spring, and pronounced it a stripper classic. I just knew. It wasn't even going to be released in the US, and was a B-side overseas, then hit satellite radio, and the rest is history. At last, backwoods titty dancers have something other than Motley Crue's "Girls, Girls, Girls" to dance to.------>JMS

I like Buckcherry. I rarely ever see a band do a good job with Lit Up, because of how syncopated the chord changes are on that song. But if you dig Buckcherry, I suggest checking out a band from Seattle that only lasted for a few years: New American Shame. It's straight-up, Ac/dc inspired, Les Paul through a Marshall, unapologetic (I'm running out of adjectives here), Rock-and-or-Roll. It's not the most original or ground-breaking stuff, but damn is it good.

Dude, we played a gig at this place two summers ago. The club also owned a strip bar across the street. When the dancers were done doing their thing, they came over for our last set. I shit you not - One of them only had one arm! I'm not kidding! She was a one-armed stripper.

The thing that I have always liked about Buckcherry is that they seem to write the songs around Josh Todd's voice. His voice fits the song perfect but he's not really that good of a singer in my opinion. And that open tuning (forget the details on it) that they use produces a real dirty/sleazy feel which goes perfect with the vocals. Dirty/Seazy like Crazy Bitch and Lit Up ...I'm not going to lie, I like it...

better one arm than one leg.. that would make sliding down the pole a little difficult.. yet very interesting..

A ONE ARMED STRIPPER!!! People, THAT IS WHY WE DO THIS SH*T.
You practice, learn, work, sacrifice, play to nobody, drive really far in bad weather, deal with a-holes, get ripped off... all that and more, and what do you get? Paul saw a one-armed stripper. I'd say that's a good trade, right there. Working musicians have the best stories of any occupation, bar none. You get to tell people some cool, sick, wild sh*t because you've seen cool, sick, wild sh*t that nobody else got to see.
I watched a midget snort coke off the dash of his buddy's car. I also watched a woman partially disrobe and begin masturbating on the dancefloor. Those are things I would likely have never seen. Well, in a non-Internet way. I'm sure there are websites for that stuff, and one-armed strippers as well. But you get to see it without a credit card.

Paul, your one-armed stripper story inspired me to blow a little bit of lunch time on myspace creating a concept.. basically the only thing i do on myspace is humor.. and this is my last idea..

That's right, folks.. the great people that brought you the rivveting combination of the Boston Marathon, the Indianpolis 500, and the Tour de France at one time on a figure 8 track.. and the all suicide marathon, bring to you the next installment of our vulgar, obscene, yet unforgetable entertainment...

All In Entertainment, proudly presents to you...

The Strip-Olympics...

The Strip-Olympics are the upper eschelon and ultimate pedistal for one-legged strippers.. This is where we seperate those who spread their legs, and those who merely slide their knub aside 4 inches.. This my friends, is the grandest of stages..

The competition will consist of 5 events..

1) The 100 meter hurdle..
2) The long jump
3) Exotic ice dancing
4) Nude mechanical bull riding

and our ultimate test..

5) the pole-slide obstacle course.

**the pole-slide obstacle course is an event in which each handi-whore must navigate her way down a 200 story pole, drenched in 30 pounds of crisco per square inch.. while doing so, she must negotiate a series of obstacles on her way down.. including rusty nails, dry spots, heat spots, razor blades, and celaphane. The competition will be timed, and the fastest time, after penalties.. wins**

The games will take place over January 16-19th, 2007 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Qualifiers will take place November 23-25th in the following cities..

Los Angeles
New York City
Boston
Chicago
Harrisburg
Dallas/Ft Worth
Minneapolis
Seattle
Las Vegas

All interested handi-whores may apply. Let the games, begin!

You have too much time on your hands, Gary. The one-armed stripper was quite a site to see. There are certain requirements for certain jobs. I think that if you're a police officer, good vision should be a requirement. I don't want a blind police officer shooting a gun. A radio personality should be able to talk. A doctor should have an M.D. A think that having all apendages should be a requirement for erotic dancers. Unfortunately, I suppose that if one were denied a job in the exotic dancing arts, one could go to the ACLU and sue the club in question for discrimination.

Oh BTW, that club is no longer open. lol

 Shucks Gary, you called me a "girl". IMO dudes who have a problem with the way we women shake our asses either: a.) don't need to look, b.) should demonstrate the proper way to do it, OR c.) maybe you should start looking at other dudes!

There's a one-legged character Amy Poehler has portrayed on SNL that's a riot. :)

I just heard an ad on 99.1 in Johnstown that Buckcherry is doing a show in Ebensburg soon but their website says they are playing that The War Memorial Arena on 11-28-06.

Wolfmother... I like the only song I've heard. Is it called "Woman?" I was wondering what the rest of the CD sounded like.

Buckcherry... I always liked "Lit Up" (Scream used to do a great cover of it) and I loved "Crazy Bitch" enough that I went out and bought the 2 CD's with those songs. I like "15" alot. It's not real heavy, but it's got alot of catchy tunes on it. On the other hand, the self-titled one sucks (I.M.O.) except for "Lit Up."

Does this make me only half a fag?

Songsmith is so right. Most of us could write a book with all the stuff we have been through and crazy things we are seen and experienced just to play in a band. Every time we played at The Victory Lane, we would leave with one or more funny stories because of the wild cast of characters who used to go there. You could not make up these things or people if you tried and we came up with funny names for many of them. One guy would always stagger about pointing at us and yelling "You guys are awesome", so, we named him "Shock & Awesome" after the shock and awe Iraq war slogan. We had Stinky Whizzleteeth who who only had a few rotten teeth left in his mouth and would come close to our faces while we were singing and scream at us to play songs and he smelled like a combination of alcohol, kerosene, and crap. We looked forward to playing at The Victory Lane because we always had fun and laughed so hard and the stories became a part of our band's history.
