Need to let some steam off
Need to let some steam off
Were to begin. Anyhow this is Jason from the band CYPHIN. We were scheduled to play an all age show tonight from 7PM till 9PM in Huntingdon. We have been having problems with our drummer the last several months, It's always one excuse after another, honestly I don't know If you can possibly even come up with anymore excuses then this guy can. Anyhow we set up to play and our drummer which is already running late calls us tonight from Lewistown at 5:30PM and says he cannot get into our guitar players house. Our guitar player gave our drummer a key to get his kit when ever he needs to get it, well like I said he calls and says he cant get into Erics house because he lost Erics key to his house so he's stuck down there and cannot get in to get his drum kit. Does anyone else run into these same situations with jackass's like this one. It's sad how one person can totally fuck a band. We felt like such dumb shits tonight that we had to do this to these people. And needless to say our drummer has gottin the big FUCK YOU take a hike your done asshole / FIRED. I'd like to hear some other peoples wonderful stories like this one.

Tsk Tsk......
Every band has hundreds of stories like this, but you never air your dirty laundry in public....
I doubt you're going to get a thread like this started, and frankly I wouldn't want to see it......
I also would lay $50 down that JP or Ron locks it in under 4 posts...
Anyone want a piece of the action? haha....

without naming names or what ....putting a band together is tough. But over the years I've played, the one thing I've learned is to make sure the people you have are dependable, have the desire, want to play the same music. Kinda like todays dating services.....find out before you hook up.
But also if you have a member that is causing the rest of you problems, unreliable, etc, get rid of them. too many times bands get frantic and pick up players they regret.

FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE.
sometimes it gets to be too much. if the guy is fuckin up that much. FIRE HIS ASS.
if he is costing you guys a good rep and shit, id say axe him.
every band has probs...but the ones who constantly cause problems should not even be in a band. people can only take so much...and it sucks especially when you want to get somewhere by doing music. if youve warned the guy, and he still is fuckin up...as i said before FIRE HIM

you know what.. in all honesty, i believe on rockpage the ability to "air out one's dirty laundry" is something that should be allowed. Listen, how many people on here ARE NOT associated with the scene in any one way.. I bet the majority of rockpage members are either A) Musos B) Light/Sound Crew C) Management D) Promoters or E) Friends/"Crew" of represented bands on rockpage.. I highly doubt random people frequent rockpage to the point in which they care to take part in the daily lives of the scene..
If this were say another forum, which were more public than a close circle.. I would agree, but with rockpage.. I think we're all mature and friendly enough to understand that emotions and anger take the best of us sometimes, and it's alright to air out dirty laundry.. just to make sure that atleast both sides of the story are heard. In CYPHIN's case.. I find Satta airing out his laundry as totally acceptable, because they were set up, and ready to go.. and got blown off by their drummer.. who they have been searching for a replacement for months, and doing so publically..
just my .02

I agree with Panzer that it probably isn't a very good idea to talk about these types of things in a public forum. Though Atomik brings an interesting point: Out of all of the members (many of them don't actively post), I wonder how they are all tied into the scene. But I digress.
Back to the point of topic - This isn't directed at anyone in particular, but there's one thing I've learned and it's a rule that I've now adopted. Whether I'm working in a band with other musicians, sound guys, opening bands, etc., I have one a rule: I only work with pros, pure and simple. By pro, I don't mean that they make all their income off of music. I mean that they act like a pro both on stage and off. You get very little of the stupid bullshit when you're working with pros. You won't last long in music if you're not a pro.

Just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear about this Jason. I hope you guys can find someone you can count on who is reliable. All of us in bands know that it can sometimes be a bitch to find the right people, but you just gotta keep looking. Don't let something like this be the demise of a band. Not because of one jackass who doesn't take it seriously. But you know you could always start a hip-hop group & then you don't even need a drummer. Seriously though, I hope you find someone & get out there rockin' again soon.

You understand the basic concepts of betting correct?Baceman Spiff wrote:11 replies and counting! PAY UP!!PanzerFaust wrote: I also would lay $50 down that JP or Ron locks it in under 4 posts... Anyone want a piece of the action? haha....
You don't place bets on a football game Monday morning you numbskull!!!
Now had you called it earlier I would be impressed .... haha.....
On another note...
I gotta admit though I'm impressed, even Asunder calmed down enough to realize it wasn't cool to air dirty laundry... Seems the only one in favor, probably just wanted to have a little excitement in his life by living vicariously through Asunder and to make matters worse he is the one person on here known to have horrible opinions to begin with .... Am I not correct people? haha...

I would have to say that this page consists of mostly people who play in bands and some very hard core fans. I really doubt that the general public gives two shits about what is said on this site. I consider this site to be like crack. It was cool when i first tried it, but now i just keep coming back for more and dont know why, even though i know its not gonna do me any damn good. ha ha

Yes it did, we met on rockpage, all of us. I know rockpage has helped me out tremendously. If it wasnt for Rockpage i would have never gotten into that Helping Hands for Hastings benefit last year, and never met all of you guys. I think that rockpage has not only been a great tool for our band as far as finding members, but meeting friends as well.Hurricane wrote:Did RP help find you guys a drummer?brokenstrings wrote:I would have to say that this page consists of mostly people who play in bands and some very hard core fans. NEVER NEVER NEVER air dirty laundry on a public forum. (no matter what type of forum it is) Wether right or wrong, it makes you look like a total immature jackass. Rockpage is one of those forums you don't have to be logged in or registered to be able to read. There's other ways to air your greivance without naming names. Eventually said person is going to be seeking another gig and the next band might just be looking for a good referal from you into not only the person's ability as a performer but their general personality. Too many bad refrences hurt cuz word does get around when someone is extremely hard to work with.
The person below me enjoys a good spanking.
