Tool!

Post by Jim Price »

Who all went to the Tool concert in Pittsburgh Tuesday night? Discuss...

I went. I thought it was pretty incredible, especially the encore triple shot of "Lateralus," "Vicarious" and "Aenima." The coordination of the tunes and visuals was often mindblowing. Tool is the modern-day Pink Floyd, 'nuff said. Simply incredible.

Didn't make it to last nights gig. I've seen TOOL twice prior and was knocked out both times! A friend o' mine went to the show at the Pete and said it was great. Maynard was in great voice and the rest of the band looked loose and were actually having fun. .......

The sound and execution were flawless... The best show I've seen from them yet.

I saw Tool and Meshuggah at the Jordan Center. It was back when I was a bean connoiseur, and I brought some extra-special beans which I enjoyed in the parking lot. I then went inside, and allowed myself to be aurally and visually bludgeoned for the next 3 hours. Both bands were awesome, Meshuggah just slayed musically (very impressive), and I let the Tool show kind of envelope me. From Maynard's bra and panties to the meat-pipe onscreen, I just sat transfixed and slack-jawed. The beans and the show were both yummy.------>JMS

Yeah, but with the exception of "Stinkfist" and "Forty Six and 2," all of Tool's songs ran eight minutes or more. "Wings for Marie/10,000 Days" runs 17 minutes; "Rosetta Stoned" over 11 minutes.

You're my hero JP.. I've never been able to see Tool and come back with all that info.. Most I remember was the price of drafts at the concession stand... I guess THAT's why I'm not the professor.... haha

Peace..

AAAAAMMMMMEEEEENNNNN BROTHER! Well, with tool, it may be 10 songs, but each song is about the same length of 3 songs, so they still play 30 songs technically.

I'm glad to see this topic, JP.

I'm going to see Tool tomorrow in D.C. Anyone know who's opening up?

In Pittsburgh, Isis opened the show.

The same band that opened for Tool in Pittsburgh, Isis, will open for them in DC.

Isis wasn't bad. They struck me as heavier groove/ambient rock.

Thanks guys, I'll give a report in the morning. This is my first Tool show, so I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

Great show, with the same set list as JP noted!

Due to the fact that parking sucks at the Verizon Center, I only got to check out Isis’ last two songs. Pretty good stuff!!

Before the encore, Maynard said “Man, Pittsburgh was way louder than you guys”.

Tool and Meshuggah...thats kicks ass!

I Saw Tool and Fantomas at Madison Square Garden a couple of weeks after 9/11. Talk about eerie... It was a wild performance and they did the extended version of Pushit (of course). But the crowd was really kind of subdued and Maynard came out of the silhouette once to give some brief diatribe about being creative and letting the energy go somewhere to do something positive or something like that... But it was still a really good show! Who cares if they misread eastern and pagan mystic philosophical texts and misapply them to things like...Simmons drumpads...? They still rocked. Fantomas was just plain wierd, but entertaining. What is Mike Patton getting himself into these days anyway?
