The Crowbar

Post by Gorr »

I heard the Crowbar will be bought by the people that run the Cellblock in Scranton & Williamsport. Great! Once again bands like Mush room H ead & Dope have a place to play in the area...
is it 4:20 yet?

It's been open for about three weeks now... Its pretty fucking weak actually, they painted the walls sky blue and shit. Its like Players... All that I've seen advertised so far is DJ's, we all went down about two weeks ago and 25 cent beers couldn't even keep us there more than 20 min... Thats bad

Burk's honest opinion...

IT SUCKS

I dont think your gonna see Mushroomhead there anytime soon... but you never know

That really sucks...

I've seen some cool shit there when I was at PSU Main campus...

I'm not too proud of it but I caught Marilyn Manson there when he was a nobody... (like he's somebody now)

I'm also not proud that I saw Suicidal Tendencies there and since it was an all age show it ended up being me and Mike Muir at the bar for about an hour after the show with my drunk, dumb ass repeating over and over to the bartender "Hey get him a Pepsi all he wants is a Pepsi"

I thought it was hilarious but he had obviously heard this from many drunk idiots in his day and was in no way shape of form amused.....

I'll tell some other time about how I made an A$$ out of myself the time I met Dimebag and got to party with Pantera... haha.... (I don't do well meeting my idols)

Did they bother to upgrade or do proper maintenance to the sound system? That system was in disrepair when I saw it. A few industry pro's I've talked to came through there on tour and basically thought the place was a joke because of the state the equipment was in.

I mixed on the system during the last few weeks the Crowbar was open. I was disgusted by the filth, grime, and crud on the equipment. Many of the features of the console were non-operational. I know it's a "bar" but it was nice to think that it was a gem of live sound in this area.

I hope the new ownership takes it seriously. Yeah, sure they'll be able to book some acts on their first time through, but rest assured, if the group is dis-satisfied with the equipment, nary will there be a return visitor.

Settling for bands that are "up and coming" or the new thing out on their first tour may be what they'll have to cater to.

Yea for some reason I turn into an idiotic 4 year old school girl everytime I met someone famous... It wouldn't be so bad but I've been lucky/unlucky enough to meet many people in the day so I've left many a famous musician wondering who the hell that idiot was ... haha...

From what I understand, the new owners have not decided between a "Dance Club" or a live music venue...a dance club would be great as there are not enough DJ run bars around.....J/K

They were lined up "around the block" ... That's cause everyone was too embarrassed to line up in front of the place.... haha....

Lancaster is 2 hours from Huntingdon.. York is 2 hours from Huntingdon.. even if Cellblock doesnt get live bands.. the Chameleon Club in Lancaster has been smoking Crowbar for years anyways.. no more driving to Pittsburgh/Philadelphia..

The Drive By Truckers were at Lulu's last night in State College... I don't know if they are going to start picking up more live shows or not. It wasn't really advertised much at all, I've never even been in the bar and I walk past it every night. I was surprised when I turned the corner on my way to Dennis Fallon's Tuesday night Rathskeller show (Shameless Promotion) and saw a tour bus sitting on S Pugh St.
Guess we will have to wait and see what happens, Lulu's is in the Big Easy building.

UPDATE:

I ran into one of Lulu's bouncers last night and he told me that they are going to have live shows once a month... He said there were about 400 people there Tuesday night, I hope it works out.

See earlier thread for help...

Eddie Money IS going to be at the Cell Block, its $15 at the door, I will most likely go to see what a live show is like since the renovations...
