I tend to be a fan of music not many have heard of yet (I spend a lot of time listening to new shit when I should be sleeping)... So I have been listening to two this week that are worth checking out.
The first is a group from all over England called Editors http://www.editorsofficial.co.uk/ . They have a Psychadelic Furs meets David Bowie meets very early U2 vibe. Cool of course if you dig that. Almost sounds like the British verion of Interpol a few years later, but not derivative of them I don't think (of course that's may be why the label signed them anyway - that and a good fan base which we all know you need).
The second is a little more progressive and from Denmark. They are called Mew http://www.mewsite.com/site_fr.html . They almost have a My Morning Jacket meets Secret Machines sound. The drum mix is totally fat - especially the bass drum on the first track which must have one of those extra acoustic woofers on the front (Steven Perkins uses one on the Just Because vid for Janes Addiction). And if you have not checked out Secret Machines first album, do it. The drum mix on that is pretty huge too. Definitely an homage to Bonham.
