i cant see where you all feel so comfortable in the Steelers about that win last nite. The defense was good, and at times.. Parker was unstoppable.. but I cant help but think if Culpepper doesnt throw that first interception - they drive down the field, score a touchdown and win the game..
Batch did good though. A lot better than I thought he would..

That's the great thing about football... "if" is only if and what happens is what is realityAtoMikEnRtiA wrote: but I cant help but think if Culpepper doesnt throw that first interception - they drive down the field, score a touchdown and win the game..

Truthfully, Daunte Culpepper looked like he had a lot of problems when they got to him. He had what I call the "Peyton Manning syndrome" - hit him once and the next 2 throws are coming out quick and wild.
I think it was a strong first game. They are always sloppy (see Wes Welker torching the special teams) but, it was a win, against a team that some have going to the Super Bowl, and was a good W to start the season.
If youth knew; if age could.
... and if the ref calls the no-call pass interference in the first half, Miami doesn't score in that following series and Pittsburgh probably does, which shifts the scoring 14 points ...AtoMikEnRtiA wrote:but I cant help but think if Culpepper doesnt throw that first interception - they drive down the field, score a touchdown and win the game..
What ifs don't fly. Culpepper did throw the INT — wait, make that two in a row — and the final score, in case you missed it, was 28-17. He made those mistakes because he was facing the Steelers D in crunch time.
Steelers D and O both played good games, especially with the back up QB in the first game of the season. O line was tough most of the game, giving Biz-atch good looks. Defense did what they always do.
The naysayers need to recognize that the Steelers roster from the last two seasons (15-1, 15-5 w/ SB win) remains practically untouched. They're fielding an extremely veteran team that's not being picked to go ... as usual. Like Joey said after the game, "Keep disrespecting us, we like it that way."
And, let's not forget, the Steelers have a habit of winning back-to-back Super Bowls.
Steelers win. Bring on the Jags.

Exactly the discussion Gallowglass and I had. They need high shcool coaches at practice to remind them to wrap your arms and hold on until the whistle blows. Fundamentals seem to be a thing of the past.RobTheDrummer wrote:The thing that was makin me mad throughout the game was the missed tackles. Steelers need to make tackles when they touch someone.
Batch- over 200 yards passing, 3 TD's
Parker- 115 yards rushing
Miller- over 100 yards recieving
Not bad against a good veteran defense

Yeah, we had a fist go through a cieling fan and two people got hit by flying terrible towels during the game. It's always a good time during a Steeler game.YankeeRose wrote:ImFedUp wrote:Fuck them Cowboys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't have said that one better myself - but there's no Love lost for the Jags either! Any way, Steelers WON, period. My daughter was a frickin' RIOT, no sooner in the door and almost immediately vehemently yelling at the tv: "PASS INTERFERENCE, PASS INTERFERENCE!!!", then saying "thank you" after a penalty was finally called - then asking the Steelers "what are you DOING?", repeatedly when they were missing tackles...good LORD, it's only the first game, but it was a GOOD ONE!!! (Sorry, neighbors!

Hey Rob. If this was a church you be preachin' it with that post brudder! Dead on. Screw the what ifs... If we did that, we would be saying and probably should still be saying, "what if they called an incomplete pass on the Immaculate Reception?". The Steelers are steeped in a tradition of gritty and raw football that's no pretty and that's why the Rooneys stayed with Cowher long before XL. Cowher gets it. It's NEVER pretty...well except for that game against Denver this January...
As with every second half, LeBeau gave Culpepper a brand new set of looks that he was not comfortable with. Just like Seattle, just like Denver, all the way back to when Big Ben took over the reigns... He knew if you could get into Culpepper's head they would win, and that's what they did in the second half.
