Penn State Prediction Thread..
Well 3 weeks down, Penn State bounced back from a week 2 loss to smoke Youngstown State 37-3..
I believe I was closest predicting 35 - 14.. im not sure if it's closest by a few.. i was 2 under state's total, and 11 under YSU.. if im wrong, correct me..
Kevin Siegel (ToonaRockGuy) - 1 (PSU - Akron)
Rob Carolous (BadDaZeRob) - 1 (PSU - Notre Dame)
Gary Waite (AtoMikEnRtiA) - 1 (PSU - Youngstown State)
Week 4 - Saturday, September 23 2006
Penn State vs Ohio State
Ohio Stadium - Columbus, Ohio
3:30 Kickoff
Penn State - 24
Ohio State - 27
STATE PUTS NUMBER 1 BUCKEYES ON THE ROPES.. LAST SECOND FIELD GOAL SAVES OSU
Please EDIT ALL YOUR PREVIOUS POSTS!

Holy Moly, I got one right!
Okay, here's my next prediction:
Week Two - Saturday, September 9
Notre Dame Stadium - South Bend, Indiana
Penn State vs Notre Dame
[rant]
Being the Michigan Wolverine fan that I am, there's only one thing that even comes close to my pure and utter hatred for Ohio State...and that's my pure and utter hatred for the mightily over-rated Notre Dame Fighting Irish. I hate their stupid helmets, I hate their stupid stadium, I hate their stupid school, I hate their stupid fans who think that they are entitled to a national championship every year, I hate Ara Parseghian, Lou Holtz, and every other stupid coach they've had, I hate that damned fight song, and I'd like to kick Touchdown Jesus in the f*cking ball sack.

If youth knew; if age could.
FINAL SCORE:
Penn State 34
Akron 16
THIS WEEK: #19 Penn State vs. #4 Notre Dame
Admittedly, part of this may be me being the Penn State honk that I am. But I think Notre Dame is overrated. Even before their come-from-behind win against Georgia Tech, I wasn't buying all the preseason hype about the Irish. We aren't that far removed from last year's Irish getting their asses handed to them by Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. Suddenly they're national championship contenders, Charlie Weis is the second coming of Knute Rockne, and Brady Quinn is Heisman bound? Notre Dame will have to make a believer out of me, and I'd be surprised if the Irish get out of September with a .500 record. I think Penn State can win in South Bend; everybody is talking about Notre Dame's tough defense and Brady Quinn and the explosive offense. Penn State has an explosive offense, and I think JoePa will have some surprises for this game. And I think Mr. Posluzny, Mr. Connor and the Nits defense will have a chip on their shoulders and something to prove. It won't be easy, and I see this one being decided late in the 4th quarter. I think this one will become another instant Nits/Irish classic, and I think Penn State pulls the upset, throwing a wrench into the Irish national championship and Brady Quinn Heisman discussions:
PENN STATE 20
NOTRE DAME 19
Penn State 34
Akron 16

That was my 1st choice, but I'll go 20-17 PSU in a nail-biter.AtoMikEnRtiA wrote: Penn State - 21

Actually, it was 34-16 and it looks like Kevin won with his 34-13 prognostication.AtoMikEnRtiA wrote:1 week in the Books.. Penn State beat Akron 30-16 to go to 1-0 on the season..
Jim Price was closest predicting 30-13.. he gets 1 point, and leads 1-0 on all of us..
Correct me if I am wrong.

The chronology of this thread is becoming confusing. How about just adding the next week's game prediction to your original post below the previous week instead of replacing the previous week's predictions with the new ones. That way, everyone can look back and see who was right and who was full of shiite. Then, the games from different weeks aren't all shuffled together.
This week's game:
PSU — 24
ND — 30
I'm not an Irish fan by any stretch, but unless State raises its performance bar considerably from last week, it'll be lights out in the hostile environment of South Bend for the Blue and White. Penn State's defense went to sleep for a spell last week and kept an unworthy opponent in the game for way too long.

(I decided to post at the end rather than edit my previous post, to bump this thread back up and remind everyone it's prediction time for the coming weekend.)
Okay, Notre Dame proved me wrong. They are a good team. I'd still be surprised if they run the table and are still in the national championship discussion by season's end, though.
There's no such thing as a "good" loss, but Penn State's loss at Notre Dame last week might benefit the Lions in the long run. They now know they can move the football against a good defense (if we accept the pundits' assessment of Notre Dame's defense as a good one). But this team with a lot of younger players learned that you can't make mistakes against a good experienced team on the road. Hopefully this loss helps toughen the Lions up for the upcoming Big Ten schedule, which starts next week at Columbus.
As long as the Lions don't look ahead to that showdown against the Buckeyes, they should win handily against Youngstown State this Saturday. But given what Division I-AA programs have done so far already this season (Montana State beat Colorado, New Hampshire beat Northwestern), the Nittany Lions better take the undefeated Penguins seriously. I predict they will.
Penn State 47
Youngstown State 17
