careful Rob,

your comments could be construed as insulting. It is cool u are getting to do what u love and get paid well for it, but there is a fine line to the working man/band on the discussion of money.

I had a ten paragraph diatribe on playing, uh, crap, but I'll let it go. Good on ya, Rob, but be careful flashing cash. Here's some advice:
NEVER talk money with anyone who isn't laying it in your hand. Why not? Your brother-in-law could use a loan, your mom wants you to bank it, the music store guy wants you to buy more gear, your bandmates feel they deserve a bigger cut, your landlord can get more for your apartment, that shady looking bar patron saw you get a handful of Benjamins and knows where you parked your truck, the cops think you got it selling meth, the girl you just met thinks you could be a wonderful provider for her children, and on, and on. Oh, most importantly, the Eye-Are-Ess doesn't like you having cash at ALL, because it's too difficult to get their chunk of it.
By the way, can you float a brutha a loan? I really, really need a new kayak, the old ones are dirty. ----->JMS

Damn it, I enjoy your diatribes Johnny! Good call on flashing the bills though. I don't like to make "The Circle" at the end of the night until most of the patrons are out of the bar. You never know who is up to what. Though we usually have mics/stands provided by soundguys, but when we don't, I use a stand with the round metal bases...and there's a reason why I use that particular stand.

Not all of us Tony.

I might be impressed if he were to save all of it every week for 1100 weeks.

Keep up the good work, Rob...(and you might want to keep a lower financial profile).

I agree... and this backs up my thought process. Never brag bout the financial end, its expected you moved halfway across the country to make better cash...

...dont take what I say as uncomplimentary; just dont flaunt what some ppl hold so precious and may need so dearly...u r too nice a guy to have ppl dissin u for all the wrong reasons

I know it does come off as a brash move, but I am really happy to be able to do what I love for a living. Sorry if I come off as a jerk! Everyone knows how I am and I thought it would be funny. If I thought it was a bad move, I wouldn't have posted! Anyway, I don't discuss it with my band mates, we all get paid well for what we do. And Johnny, sorry man, can't get you a Kayak. :D

Right now I can hear the screams from all the Rockpagers who have been posting about how they play for the love of it and the money doesn't matter.

Way to go, Rob. I don't make as much as that a week, but I'm still swimming in my now heated pool whilst the working stiffs go about their daily grind.

Keep it up, brotha.

Merle Haggard is acutually suprisingly fun to play. All of the country stuff is a blast. We really funk it out and put our own touch on it. The musicality involved in some of that stuff is tremendous. Like on The Chair, a George Strait tune, Skippy uses a volume pedal and bends- sounds just like a steel guitar. Its fun to sit back and groove, listen to what's goin on around me and enjoy the moment. :D

Then you just suck. And your guitarist, Snarfy, sucks because he doesn't cascade gain stage over gain stage until everythings nice and buzzy, then suck out everything between 200 Hz and 6kHz.

Besides, I can't come to Reno to pick up a kayak. I shot a man there. Just to watch him die.

Very wise words. If I were in your position Rob, I'd invest some money for the future, and I'd also look into an affordable health insurance plan.
