Come in on old 22 through Hollidaysburg and Duncansville and just stay on old 22 come up over the mountain down ito cresson. Go through the light and go past McDonalds then take your first right there should be a sign that says Loretto I think. Then it is just down the road a few miles on the left hand side. It is the only thing there so you cant miss it. Hope this helps,
Paul

Wherever there is a need for grammatical correctness, I shall heed the call. Together, we shall elevate this forum to the vanguard of Internet writing, and a new epoch of puncuation will arise.

I want to go to the End of Summer Jam in Cresson. How do I get there from Altoona without taking the highway? Also, does anyone know how much it costs? Please, I really need help.

You're welcome.
If plain and proper English is what you seek, I am the purveyor of such. You're welcome.

My thoughts of the End of Summer Jam.....

Saturday went really well from what I saw and didn't get there until about 6 p.m. The bands were great Saturday night and a decent crowd was on hand.

Sunday was a different story. I wasn't able to get up to Cresson until about 6:30 p.m. because of a funeral viewing 2 hours away from Cresson. So I was really busting ass to get there and see the Marauders. I showed up and no one was playing and no one was setting up. It started to rain pretty good so some people were leaving. I was told that the Marauders weren't showing up so I stuck around to catch Nitekast. Nothing happening and the soundman starts packing up. I was like "What the hell??"

I just was really disappointed to pay for myself and my girl and only catch about 6 hours of music out of the whole weekend. I think this was originally promoted as rain or shine since there was a band stage and pavilions. The "Show Must Go On"???

I commend Mickey and all that put forth the effort, but I just think that it could have been more organized. It didn't work out for me, but I will be there next year as always.

Yeah, Sunday didn't work out too well. After the rest of Mickey's band, The Knuckleheads, didn't show up for their 6 PM performance, Tie Down graciously offered to play an additonal set to fill time before The Marauders' scheduled 8 PM start. The rain started back up again, and people were leaving because of the weather and long gap between bands. When it became apparent that The Marauders weren't showing up, with very few people left and some flashes of lightning in the distance, it was decided to call it a weekend. The sound equipment was already being dismantled as the 10 PM band, Nitekast, showed up shortly after 8, (they arrived before Rick could contact them to cancel their trip; they were good sports about it, and we guaranteed them a slot in next year's event).

(As I mentioned in the thread on this topic in "Benefits," I'm wondering if there was a communications glitch between Mickey and The Marauders regarding "End Of Summer Jam," as I did not see the show listed on the group's website when I checked afterward, and I don't think The Marauders would intentionally blow off a show.)

I plan to speak with Mickey in the next few days about this year's event, as I have several ideas and suggestions to run past him about improving things for next year. Although "End Of Summer Jam" has always had a laid-back, even haphazard vibe about it, I'd like to take steps to tighten things up a little bit, and eliminate some of the scheduling glitches, long gaps between bands and "no-show" problems of the past two years.

As far as "communication glitches"... Back in '99, I read a post aout my band not showing for the End of Summer Jam. We really had know idea we were on the bill...? If we actually were or not, I'm still not sure, but we had a lot of questions about it. We had said that we would love to have played, but ...

A few months ago I told Mickey to call me if he needed me to play, and the next thing I heard was my name on the radio. I normally never miss a gig, but it was impossible to get a band together in one day.
