I've found that even if you get in the chat room you can't necesarilly get someone who is onlines attention unless they go into chat. So maybe if everyone just gets in the Room when you get on the site people will start chatting.
I check this site all the time also, I've been asking alot of questions with my recent PA Purchase / Venture. Its a cool site

The answer is a MIRC channel. Ill register a channel and post the info. If anyone has used mirc then you know what i mean. I used it for gaming for the last 5 years and its a valuble communication tool unlike a forum. If you want to communicate real time , this is the answer.
1. Always on
2. Idle in channel if your away....
3. its easy and fun
Registering a channel now.........

Yo Bob, the chat room sounds like a winner. This site offers many resources and contacts to the local music scene. Something that wasn't readlily available 10 years ago. This site(and the hurricanes) has really helped our efforts to take it out the basement and on to the stage, a chat room, in real time would kick ass !
Please post the details when they are worked out !

I wonder if Ron could encorporate that chat within Rockpage's site somehow? Just a thought. ;)

Why go to all that trouble, when there is achat available right here within the site. I know that there has to be alot of members visit Rockpage eveynight from probably 5:00pm - 11:00pm. It is just like a fad scenario, if two people start it might spread like wild fire. Just a thought!! Wiskerbisket, you let me know what time you wish to chat and I'll try to meet you there. don't get me wrong, these forums are a great way to communicate about music, our passion. Only one thing can be better than these forums and that is instant conversation. How bout it Bisket?

Mirc is almost just like irc....more modern.

I went to the mirc site and it appeared that #rockpage wasn't registered????

mIRC is a way to use IRC. Just like Internet Explorer is a way to use the Internet.

IRC is the best way to chat in real-time, and most efficient for end-users because it doesn't use their bandwidth, it uses the host of the server.

I should know, i run a small-medium sized IRC network with about 400 users, it's fun.

I started using IRC about 16 years ago, it was a nice alternative to MUT/MUD's (although you couldn't play games with the people you were chatting with at first) <grin>

Like bfoust says mIRC is just a program that came out about 10/11 years ago (if memory serves) but I guess I got away from IRC about 9 years ago when I started using ICQ which made it easier to find and have a "buddy list".. I switched to the more popular AIM after they finally caught up with ICQ and offered file sharing... I guess I just thought IRC faded away..... next you'll tell me people still use Archie/Veronica to search for FTP files on GOPHER haha.... ahh the good ol days me and Scott Everhart staying up all night to watch a pic of Pam Anderson download over 14.4K LOL.... Now that was a lesson in patience....

Use to be a site years ago that I chatted on.(I can't remember the name)..you had avitars and what ever page you went to you could see who all had the set-up was looking at the same page...and by clicking on them you could chat and there was favorites that you saved and sound/movie bites that you could play that only ones that had the file would see it if you played them.
You could also ask people to join you on a trip and take them along to different pages that were your favorites..They'd just click on join and you'd all be on your avitar and go from page tp page...
I remember some favorites as a color changing beach....
Anyone know what it is?...or had it?

I use Trillian for my IM needs. I have friends spread across MSN, AIM, and Yahoo, so Trillian is a good solution to not have 9 billion messengers open at once.

There was an old program called "The Palace" (not to be confused with the former stripjoint which is now "Coconuts"). This program had full avatars where you could even change color of your hair, and it had different rooms and props you could make/place everywhere.

oh, and IRC is far from dead. If you go to www.searchirc.com and browse networks, there's thousands of them. A few of the big ones, like Undernet.org have over 40,000 people on them.

I went to Betty Fords mIrc rehab......

Speaking of the stripjoint the Palace. I worked for Tom for 11 great years, i loved going to work then...I was doing the Palace site when ISDN lines first came out. I then proceeded to install webcams (Intel Proshares)and had nice jpeg pusher software that looked like live motion (streaming was unheard of yet), a pretty cool chat and we were up and running. We were getting pervs from all over and the hits were astounding. Had to change servers alot because of bandwidth. I just found the site on some backups and was checking out the private vid we had for members.
Still looks good even for todays standards.

Only bad thing was wives could log on and see if their husband was there....

Even before that, anyone remember the Warehouse that Valko owned?
Lots of bands practiced there and Terry had a software business, he hired me to help with the burning of cd's to market. Home burners were new and we were getting all the latest goodies. We got new intel cams in so i thought hmmm, stripping secretary and ran some hotties over isdn to suits in offices! LOL, man them was the fun times!
