Bad weather

Post by facingwest »

I just wanted to see if the bad weather killed anyone else's show's tonight. The roads were horrible coming and going and we didn't get our normal crowd at all. At the same time, at least we had some people there to play for and we all had a great time. ;)

Roads in Altoona were tricky. I had wanted to come up to Castle to see Retro, but not with snow falling and roads slick. Traffic was very light as I made my way out, I wound up at Peter C's to see 513. Crowd was light there, but there were at least a few people, and the big surprise was the number of folks who came in from up the mountain to check out the show (including Northern Cambria, I heard they endured horrible road conditions on Buckhorn heading in). Apparently there were a few people out, though, because Kings' 6th Avenue location was doing good business when I went there for breakfast afterward.

We had a great turnout at Glenn's Place in Claysburg tonight. Place was packed with people and we had a great time. Apparently, from what we were told, the roads in Claysburg weren't as bad as roads elsewhere in the area, but they weren't good either. Mostly just snow-covered. It didn't seem to effect turnout on our end.

We had a pretty good turn out at the Tourist Inn in Hellam... supposed to be 4 bands but one cancelled... cause of the weather... anyway the place had more people in it than on some nights when the weather is perfect...

I must say, the bad weather affected our show at City Limits. The turn out was pretty bad, and I was taking calls on my cell all night from people who said they were trying to make it but just couldn't get through the snow! (especially, folks from the Philipsburg direction). BUMMER!

We had a pretty good turnout at Davey's in Hastings, great party crowd out there, havin' a good time while the snow came down.

We almost got killed on the way out though! There we were... two miles outside of Patton on 36 and the left rear tire fell off the van - Hub and all!!

Luckily we found the tire and hub and this young kid stopped with a shitload of tools and a jack and helped us get back on the road to get to the show. He wouldn't take any cash either... hell of a nice kid --- thanks again whoever your were!!!

Lesson learned... when you get an inspection done, check the lugs!!! The guys at the garage never tightened the two tires up when they pulled them!!

Anyhow, we made it to the show and had a blast!!

Rock on!!
