Foreigner cancelled - Billy Idol replacing (NOT)

Post by Lisa »

Just got the following press release from the Clearfield Co Fair:

NEWS RELEASE CLEARFIELD COUNTY FAIR & PARK BOARD
PO BOX 712, CLEARFIELD PA 16830
(814) 765-4629 clfdfair@verizon.net
CONTACT: BRENDA K. HUNTER
PUBLICITY DIRECTOR

FOREIGNER CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS
Billy Idol to Perform in Place of Foreigner

DATE (CLEARFIELD, PA) On Monday, July 24, 2006, Fair Officials received word from
Mick Jones and members of Foreigner that the band would be unable to perform at the Clearfield County Fair on Tuesday, August 1, due to an unexpected medical issue. In a letter from the band, they thanked all of their fans and friends for the support shown thus far for the show and apologized for any inconveniences. In an effort to provide the same caliber of show, rock singer Billy Idol, has been secured to perform in Foreigner’s place.

According to the fair’s Publicity Director, Brenda Hunter, “It is unfortunate for fans of Foreigner that they will not be able to see the band perform. This would have been the band’s first appearance at the fair. However, given the unexpected nature of the situation, the fair board has acted swiftly to offer what we feel is an equal level of entertainment. We hope that fans will support the show. Unfortunately, due to the increased expense of contracting Billy Idol, the fair will not be able to offer refunds on tickets already sold. All tickets purchased remain valid and will be honored for Billy Idol.”

On-going details will be made available at the fair website www.clearfieldcountyfair.com as they are received. For more details, please feel free to contact the fair’s ticket office at (814) 765-1749 or the fair office at (814) 765-4629.

I received that notice as well. I have tickets, so I guess I'll be seeing Billy Idol instead. If his latest (comeback) album is any indication, it should be a kickass show.

Wonder if this has anything to do with Jason Bonham's hand problem he was having on "Super Group" ...

Dang. Like Jason Bonham, but not Foreigner, not a huge Billy Idol fan,
but if Steve Stevens is touring with him, would be cool.

Mebbe Bonham and Stevens should start something up with Jason Newsted
and save him from that SuperNova thing.

I've only heard the single (Scream) from Billy Idol, but it kicks ass!

Shoot. Foreigner has Kelly Hansen on vocals... he's a singer's singer, fantastic voice. I saw him in Hurricane, a group of 80's LA studio ringers who formed a pop metal band... wow, what a voice. They opened, and stole the headliner's lunch (Stryper).
I like Steve Stevens, really dislike Billy Idol. Glad I didn't have tickets yet.----->JMS

I just received word that Billy Idol is apparently not coming, either. The fair folks are again looking for the "same caliber of show."

Steve Stevens is one of my favorite guitar players for some strange reason, always has been and if he is still play'n with Billy Idol I'd prolly go. I never cared for Foreigner much but, that's just me .

Wonder what Billy Idols Problem is?
Maybe he just didn't have the sack to tell the Silverman Barmitzvah that they'd have to find a different entertainer.

I saw a pic of Boy George taken a few weeks ago... shaved head, no girly makeup, a goatee, and (oh, dear Lord) a Misfits t-shirt. Creeped me out. I prefer my poofty men flaming brightly so I can see 'em in crowd. 8) --->JMS

Just the other day I was on a couple of fair sites. I know when I looked at the Clearfield fair site, I saw Poison listed as playing. This was only 2 days ago.

Now, maybe I'm mistaken, but I only looked at Bedford, Cambria and Clearfield.

I definately saw Poison listed and I know it wasn't at Bedford or Cambria. It was $26 for tix. In fact, now I'm sure it was Clearfield's site because the Oak Ridge Boys were listed and that was $32.

Did anyone else see this?

Poison is playing the Clearfield County Fair on Friday, Aug. 4. I just checked back on their website, and they still have not secured a replacement act for the Aug. 1 Foreigner concert.

That is too bad they are not getting Billy Idol. I saw him and his band last August in Toronto and it was one of the best rock shows I have seen in years. The band was great and Steve Stevens was there. Billy sang terrific, entertained the crowd, and even signed autgraphs while singing. They were tight, professional, and played for 2 hours non-stop.
