Avenged Sevenfold... *gag*

I wanted to go, anywhere I could get to - but like most of the people, i would have hung around second stage all day - the better acts play second stage anymore..

i'll attend one of these big concerts someday - maybe warped tour will wing by hershey in a few years again.. or maybe we can convince the owners of the Agape' farm to contact the people who run sounds of the underground.. that would be the greatest thing ever

Sounds of the Underground in Mount Union on the Agape farm.. hey if they had it there, i'd scream hallelujuah

Avenged is one of the most talented bands to come out in a long time. Albeit Walk is an easy tune that everyone does. Wish I could have seen them when they were here.

i dunno, im not knocking the musicianship or talent that Avenged Sevenfold has.. it's just that their music's not my cup of tea..

Seether did "Walk" .. and murdered it - so anybody who can do walk and make it sound good, I'll grant them that much.

You know, you're right.. and that's the shame of it.. there is SO MUCH FUCKING LAND out in Hill Valley just sitting there, occupied by nothing but grass and nothingness... you could build a small city in some spots, and make the area some fucking revenue if they wanted too, but nobody does.. it's sad.

hell, as much as it pained me to say this - Ive said it before though.. there's enough space in some areas that if they wanted to.. they could very easily build a massive race track for "neckcar" races.. You know how much money that area would generate if Nascar held races in Hill Valley - every fucking person within a 200 mile radius would be slaughtering eachother to get tickets.. it would sell out every time.. Martins in Orby, and Sheetz in Mount Union would hate themselves for 1 day being open that much.. but they would be up to their necks in money..

somebody needs to present ideas like this to people.. maybe something positive would get done lol

Yea man, everyone has their tastes! A band that is super talented is Dragonforce, but talk about cheezy lyrics and shit! I almost can't stand it, but the drums and guitars are talented as all getout!

Hey Pool, I went and thought it was great for the most part. Unlike Asunder I thought Avenged 7 had a little trouble covering their own stuff. Don't get me wrong the guitar player and drummer were outstanding, but it was obvious that they use a ton of overdubs on their cd. Live they sounded flat. The highlight of the day for me was Zakk Wylde with Ozzy doing Black Sabbath's Into the Void!

Yeah, we went to Ozzfest. Here is my assessment.

On the 2nd stage, the first 8 bands we heard all sounded exactly alike. One solid sound and screaming off key. No singing at all. You could not tell when one band ended and the next one started. The sound mix at the 2nd stage was terrible. Lots of kick drum, could not hear the bass guitar, and not good at all until Black Label Society and Ozzy were on stage.

Zak Wylde's band Black Label Society came out and he is an excellent guitar player and lousy singer. They played very well and were overall okay. Ozzy was next and Zak Wylde played guitar for him. Ozzy sang better than I expected. His band was very good and tight but it leaned toward the Zak Wylde guitar solo show.

Then, we went to the main stage. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by a band called Dragonforce. They were like old type metal bands with great dual guitar solos, good singer, and good songs. They played live and sounded like their records.

Some interesting bands like Lacuna Coil, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, and System of a Down that were talented, played well, and the main stage sound mix was much better than the 2nd stage.

There was a band there called Hatebreed and I know why. Because we hated them.

1) Hatebreed blows live - end of story

2) Dragonforce is amazing - Rob is right though the lyrics are kinda corny, but the music is beautiful

3) the first 8 bands on second stage? you mean THE RED CHORD, NORMA JEAN, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, BLEEDING THROUGH, were those some of the bands that you mentioned? i dont know about you, but personally i would have much prefered 2nd stage over 1st stage this year..

however this is all my opinion

That depends on your definition of "metal". I cut my teeth on Sabbath, Montrose, And UFO...etc. And then came "Ryche", Maiden, and Priest. To me those are all "metal" bands. Today it seems that there are different types of metal. Hardcore, Metalcore, Black Metal...etc, most of which involves screaming or barking...not singing. That doesn't make them bad, just not my thing. It's getting harder to find good powerful metal with an actual singer.

At one time in history someone said:
"That there Elvis would be good if he didn't scream like the damned devil all the time." hehe.

If only the old bastard was still around to hear today's Metal
Plus it's all in what you like, last year I left when Iron Maiden took the stage cuz, personally I can stand the the vocals.
Don't worry I already deducted 10 heavy metal credibility points for saying that.

I like some of the "screamy" type metal stuff. A lot of those bands have some amazing musicianship in them and the guitarists often work well with each other.

There's going to be a lot of happy surgeons though, performing operations to remove nodules from throats.
