Shouldn't You be Working?
Im not sure if this has been done before - I think it has, but fuck it - let's do it again..
Shouldn't You be Working?
if so - what should you be doing, and how much do they pay you for doing so?
Me - Web Developer - currently working on a program for the Pennsylvania Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Conference.
Payment *disclosed info* but I'll say it's more than $16.00/hour
What am I really doing? - Rockpage, Vocal Youth, Watching the World Cup, Myspace, AIM .. not all at the same time.. I always keep 2 browsers open for work, as I do work as well
... your turn ...

What am I doing at work - I don't have an official title, but I work for my school's IT department working on workstations (we have no servers at Clearfield), and doing general diagnostic stuff on the technology. Part of my responsibilties include running distance education programs (which is what I'm doing at this very moment), which is when classes are broadcasted from main campus to Clearfield. It's a pretty boring gig, but when it's boring that means everything's running smoothy.
What I'm really doing - Surfing rockpage, and studying algebra for the GRE.

"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
Computer programmer for major university, plus promotional stuff for the bar/restaurant. Payment...well, I'd say more than $18 an hour, less than $22 an hour...for my promotional stuff...well, I get paid on average $-5 an hour it seems.
What am I really doing? Geocaching, rock page to try to figure this business out better (you folks make good teachers), myspace, IM, taxes, work schedue for the bar, etc...all that while still able to be productive at my real job so I don't let down my peers.
Whats it all mean though? I'm one worn out underpaid human who will probably have a heart attack by the age of 50.

What do I do for work.....lemme see....
Um, wake up at like 4-5 pm, hang out for a bit, get ready to play. Play drums for like 5 hours, 6 hours. Get off anywhere from 1:30 to 3, sometimes 4am. Stay up till like 10am playing video games, watching movies, hangin with broads, or chillin online.
I get paid more now that I did in any other job I've had. And I get to travel all over Nevada and California.

Wow, we r t3h hax0rz. I'm an application developer/DBA/web designer like seemingly everybody else.
What am I really doing? Rockpage, Wikipedia, Drudge, counseling Blain's sheep. Actually, that stuff is incredibly helpful for clearing my head when faced with a brain-scrambling work task. It's weird, but the more you see me posting on Rockpage, the busier my work day probably is.

Heh, I don't necessarily love everything about the Drudgereport. Like the seeming fetish for animal cruelty stories. Or the subtly dismissive habit of always putting "global warming" in quotes. C'mon, there's not really a debate about whether or not the Earth is getting warmer, is there? It's a question of WHY.AtoMikEnRtiA wrote:drudge? like the people who said Kerry had a lead in all the big states back in '04?
On the other hand, I love that Drudgereport is primarily text links. Simplicity of design and function gets me off. When Google started cluttering up with World Cup stuff for a week or so, I was heartbroken.

I'm an Inventory Control Specialist for Wal-Mart. I work out of the Bedford/Everett store. As far as money, well, like you hear on the news: "Overworked, underpaid," and something to do with Mexicans, but I'm not Mexican. Anyway, I'm on a leave of absence til Monday because I fractured my foot. Then after I get back Monday. I go on vacation Wednesday. YAY! I don't like the circumstances though, because how can anyone enjoy vacation with a cast on their right leg?
I'm looking to get out of the retail museum, and become a rockstar.

I'm the Network Administrator/Engineer, (+ webmaster, e-postmaster, e-document master, CAD advisor, helpdesk, electro-mechanical engineer and general whipping post) for a small (500+ employees) manufacturer in Duncansville. I also make a lot of noise, as Moondoggy will testify. I get paid 40 cents a minute to design, maintain and monitor the network. I am especially fond of monitoring the internet and making sure that the connection is functioning properly
I have also been engaged in my own electronics manufacturing company (sold to a firm in Gardenia, CA in 1990), real estate projects (now liquidated), equity investments and various other enterprises for 20 years.
Since my liquid assets are now capable of generating growth and income that far exceeds my present income, I have decided to resign this position in the near future to pursue other interests like pounding stages and re-enacting Corona commercials using Coors Light.

...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
I have a porn company that films and releases elderly porn. It's called the "Wrinkle Brigade." We are huge in Indonesia. We are currently working on a "Seniors Gone Wild" project were we go into nursing homes and film the unedited antics on those wacky, but horny geriatrics. I would love to disclose my income, however for IRS purposes, I'll keep it hush hush.
Have a YUMMY DAY!

I am employed by Valley Tire Co Inc. I am a store manager whose location did 3.1 million dollars in sales last year. We are primarily a commercial truck tire dealer, but since I have taken over the management role we have also focused on retail (passenger,SUV,LT) sales as "fill" work when the commercial side is not as busy as it needs to be. I have been forunate (and perhaps a little hard work and effort paid off), I took a store that was borderline profitable and made it into one of the top earners of our company. We have locations as far as Syracuse, NY, and Darth Tatum works for our Altoona location. I tried to make a run at my own website company, "DCD STUDIOS" and and had 15 sites to maintain, but in the end it was not profitable enough and just basically puttered out due to cash flow issues and nonpayments by customers. I still do 3 for shits and giggles.
I am a salaried employee, and when I am home I dispatch after hour techs to jobsites. My phone never quits ringing. I wont discuss income because sometimes it can be lucrative, and sometimes it can be shameful. I enjoy what I do, and I would like to do it until I retire. I have never had any formal post high school education, and I learned website programming from online tutorials. Theoretically, I am on the clock now. LOL.
