Dear FiddlePicker :
1: You Guys are nuts, My bathrooms are cleaned daily. You apperently have not been in many bar restrooms , well let me tell you I have and mine are much better than most. Any bar mens room at 2am if the bar has done any bussiness is going to have piss on the floor and the ocassional puke in the sink this is from the patrons not the owner. I can't pay some one to aim it for you stand closer to the urinal. Come in at 9pm and check them out they are clean and fresh !!!
2: I tell all bands BRING YOUR OWN DOOR GUY TO COLLECT Y O U R MONEY AT THE DOOR !!!
3: If you had to get your own sound production you would pay more than $100.00 that for sure. and I also invite bands to bring there own sound guy and save $50.00 of that $100.00 that I pay anyway !!!
4: And I think this is the main issue with you I also think EVER SINCE YESTERDAY rocked the house Saturday BUT the house was empty, the type of music that they do is becoming harder and harder to sell people just don't come out to here it, this is not my fault it's just a fact of life.
To: EVER SINCE YESTERDAY I'm sure you are great guys and I very much respect your art. Shutting down a band early is not uncommon. But this is a commercial venue and I have got to start treating it that way, and doing whats best for the bussiness !!!
Dear FiddlePicker
Have to throw my 2 cents in. FIRST OF ALL, I'm not picking sides. I don't know John or Fiddlepicker personally. My brother in law owns a bar/club. He has bands 2-3 times a month. Before he opened up, it was COMPLETELY remodeled from top to bottom. Over the years I have done some maintenance work for him. It's amazing the shit people will destroy for no apparent reason. Paper towel dispensers torn off the wall numerous times. Urinals being tore loose. There are pressure treated picket rails going up stairs to the back. I've replaced about 40 of those ballisters that were either kicked out or broken out during the loading of equipment. I realize people get hammered and act differently than they normally do, but if the patrons would do their part, it may help keep down the cost of the door, drinks, etc. Of course, on the other hand, there are a lot of places that sure could use a mop and a bottle of 409.
Hey I wanted to add something too, I went out Friday night to a different bar.... and the band that played not ever since yesterday, they had no crowd no one was there, me the sound guy, the bartender and owner , 3 guys playing pool and maybe 2 or 3 regulars.....They were shut down at 10 after 12.....
John isnt the only bar owner to shut a band down thats not making money.....

In my 15 years of playing, I've never had a problem with John's bar. As a matter of fact, he's seen 3 of many bands that I've been in and always gave us the opportunity to play at his establishment. The only thing I've heard from my own ears is we were too loud with Retro the night we played there...Of course, it wasn't anyone's fault, but our own. That night, I forgot my earplugs and ended up with a major headache at the end of our first set. Stupid me. heh
The liver is evil....It needs punished.

I can remember when somebody ripped out the men's toilet at the Brewery in State College and I think it took them something like 6 months to replace it. All there was in the men's room was a trough and a hole. If you needed a bowl, you had to use the ladies room. John's johns are a luxury next to a few of the popular band bars in State College and are pretty typical of hard rock clubs that get that extra helping of clientele enthusiasm...

On one hand..
Well, if I was wrong about anything I posted and I find out that I am, I will be one of the first people to come up and offer my hand, an apology, and buy you a beer. However, when I wrote that, I was extremely pissed at your bar. I know there are two sides to every coin. Sometimes the rim of it makes it three. I'll keep my eyes and ears open. Until then, good luck with your bar and the bands and clientele that are happy with you.
