I just got back from the 'meeting'. While I did enjoy meeting a couple members of the BCC and one possible new member (Tom from Beyond Reason). I was disappointed that only 4 BCC members showed up.

I think the BCC has some real potential but it is far too unorganized. In this day of web sites, email, cell phones etc, there is no reason that meeting dates (and cancellations) can't get out to everyone.

It is a shame that you have to have investigative skills to find out how to become part of the BCC. 8)

Since the BCC website is never updated, I have an idea. How about setting up a band site on Rockpage and use the show scheduler to post the meeting dates, times and locations. I would be more than happy to take care of it.

I would hate to see a good idea die because it was neglected.

Please contact me if the BCC neens someone to help with some organization. I am more than happy to help out.

I would have posted this on the BCC website or emailed to the bcc info email, but any time I have done that I have never received a response.

David Wertz

PS - Hey J.P. It was great seeing you there tonight!

Hey Dave,

The band pages aren't really designed for that kind of thing, and the scheduler is just for shows. Why not use the resources the bcc already has in a better fashion?

Right now www.bccollective.com isn't resolving. So maybe that's one of the problems, or maybe a glitch.

One of the first things I would do is renew the bccollective.com domain name with an independent domain provider like directnic. It's the same price as a lot of the cheap hosting sites charge, ($15/yr) but if you want to keep the domain, you have to make sure it is securely in your possesion at all times. I learned the hard way. Right now, it's registered with DiscountDomainRegistry.com, sorta like sending your kids to DiscountDaycare Inc. (Well not quite). :)

If you guys do that, then I would be willing to host the site for free, including a database, ftp, email, etc. I've got enough room with my new host.

A simple scheduler is pretty easy to implement, and if I remember correctly, the bcc site was nice. No scheduler is going to work if no one updates it.
... and then the wheel fell off.

I found the problem with the bcc website. discountdomainregistry.com, their provider, is down. Probably a temporary glitch.

You are 100% correct. I was suggesting the band page / scheduler idea as a temporary fix. I understand what you mean though.

The BCC web site was up as of the time I made my post last night. I checked it because I wanted to make sure that there wasn't any updated news before I made my comments on Rockpage.

I went to my first meeting at the end of Nov and mentioned about getting the site updated at least to provide correct meeting times, but that never happened. My idea was to use Rockpage as sort of an 'incubator' until the BCC was really prepared to keep the site updated. I like the KISS method of organization.

I will certainly continue to work towards getting bccollective.com updated.

Thanks for Rockpage!

'Twas the Sunday before Christmas and what was the clatter? The Steelers were winning...but what did it matter?

Rule No. 1: Obey all rules.
Rule No. 2: Obey Rule No. 1
Rule No. 3: Never schedule anything during a Steelers game unless it is a Steelers game party.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...

Cool, the BCC site is back up, but it definitely needs some updating and link checking done.

Hi SKOttI,

I don't think anyone is blaming you. I am certainly not. I was simply pointing out that it is currently a bad place to get current info. I have done plenty of web page stuff to know that if you don't get anything to update, then there will be no updates.

The site looks great, it is too bad that nothing is happening with it. I think the opening page should always list the next meeting date, time and location. That way, the people that are interested can actually get involved. I had just about given up myself.

Hope to see you at the next meeting on....... ??? :?

Sorry Skotti,

We didn't intend to make you feel like we were gettin' on your case. We are just trying to improve the situation.
I know all too well what it's like to have to update things when nobody gives you updated information, and it's tough to maintain a site single-handedly, especially for free. My respect goes out to you, and anybody who can build a site in the first place.

If your still feeling scorned, just give Clete a swift kick in the jimmies. That'll help fer sure.

i've been watching this post for a few days now and i will address some of the issues. as far as organization, we are pretty organized but we have a long way to go. we put on some very successful events in our first year. it's hard to do without having our own place and we can't "make" people come to meetings...especially when there's a steeler game on as well as the sunday before christmas, probably bad judgement on the part of the BCC for scheduling a meeting on that day. The BCC & our ideas are far from dying due to being neglected. we have a very strong council/core behind the BCC and we are very resourceful and resilient. i'm sorry to those who were there for such a slow turnout but that just happens sometimes. i'm very glad to see interest from other parties and we do need and welcome you. there WILL be more of us at the next meeting.
KOTTI does a fine job on the site but we know he's as busy as the next guy with "life", but i would like to clarify some things....i did alert kotti about the meetings but he's been busy running all over the northeast for work lately. i believe dave (wertz) told me at the 1st meeting he attended that he tried emailing kotti and got no response. i, in turn, told kotti about this and he told me something but i didn't really get it cause i don't know all this puter mularkey he was telling me. The BCC has an "alternate" email address for info that 4 council members have access to BC_Collective@hotmail.com ....maybe this will help. ANY ?s can be asked at this or pm me thru rockpage. well, enough of this.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL FROM THE BLAIR COUNTY COLLECTIVE!!!

cheers
