I Dare You - Shinedown.

Post by f.sciarrillo »

I heard this song for the first time tonight. I have to say that I was amazed. I can't believe it's the same guy who butchered simple man. It is a really good song. I'll be getting the cd to check the rest of it out.

It's cool dude, I wasn't expecting an arsenal of replies lol. I was just curious is all. I also didn't want to start another thread saying that I liked the new cd.

Mrs J and I saw them at Crowbar last year February - great show, tho a little hokie at times (Between songs: "I've suffered every day of my life...." Please - cuz selling millions of records and touring the country playing music is SO heartbreaking.) Most of the time, tho, his crowd-interaction stuff was more "life is tough, but ya gotta press through it" kind of stuff - angst with strength, as opposed to whiny-ass Aron Lewis cry-baby angst.....

Anyway - great band, great tunes. I like "I Dare You", but I wonder if they are moving in a more "commercial" direction - less heavy, more radio-friendly. Fly From the Inside is a great tune that was pretty heavy (for melodic, sing-able rock), 45 is a very dark song.... Just a thought I had listening to "Dare".......

But, Chris Cornell? Look, I like Shinedown a lot, but almost no one can touch Cornell in his prime......... ;) :)

There - a more meaty reply to this thread.... :P

They aren't bad. I prefer my music a little heavier but, the singer has that Ronnie James Dio rasp when he hits a high note (no, I am not saying he's Dio) so I kind of dig his voice.

I listened to the Us and Them CD for the first time last night. I agree, good songwriting, and the singer does remind me of Chris Cornell. I'll be listening to this CD again. And as said on the previous thread about the Equinox Tour show in Johnstown last week, Shinedown did an impressive job.
