BCC MEETING UPDATE

Post by rug »

what's up rockers? The BCC is now holding meetings at R Waffle King on 17th st & 8th ave. The next meeting is on Sunday, Dec 7th at 5:30 in the banquet room at RWK. We expect member bands to have at least one person present as we are implementing some new guidelines and will be going over some new forms we've drawn up. All are welcome. What started in oct. of 2002 of 3-4 bands has grown to 12+ bands strong as far as members and we know we've peaked interest from many. So feel free to stop by and check it out and offer up any ideas or suggestions. The local scene belongs to all of us and is only going be what we make it or what we let it become. we urge local musicians to come check it out and join us in our quest. thanks.

cheers

Rug,

I would like to get more information about what you guys are doing. What are your objectives, goals, agenda, etc.

I would like to come to the meeting to get this information but unfortunately I will be driving back from Florida that day and I know I won't be home in time.

I did check out the web page, but didn't get a real good feel for what you are trying to do.

If you have any information that you can email me, send it to: byndreason@aol.com

Thanks,
Tom

The Blair County Collective... a group of Blair-based musicians who trade gigs, set up multi-act shows, and generally support one another. It's pretty much heavy-type music involved, but I personally think it's the best idea to ever come out of this area. Any time musicians can support one another, it's a great thing, and these guys are for real. They're CREATING a scene for their music, instead of competing against one another. What a fantastic idea. ---->JMS

Thanks. I'll check it out. Keep posting meetings, etc.

I agree, the Blair County Collective is a good development for this area's music scene. Not only are these bands working together to improve the scene, they are also doing things for the local community as a whole. At the aforementioned meeting Rug mentioned at the top of this thread, BCC members discussed a holiday season food drive sometime before Christmas; this will likely be an all ages show with canned food items as part of the admission, to help out a local food bank. Details are still being worked out, but should be announced shortly.

The BCC's next meeting will be on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 5:30 PM at R Waffle King in Altoona. Interested musicians are welcome to attend.

Some of the bands in the BCC are heavy but not all, Chapter 5, Looking For June, Useless Ambition & The Rudys are punk(ish) bands, The Marauders are a rockabilly type band and there are some guys who aren't in bands at all. We welcome any newcomers and are always looking for new members. We get enough of us together there will be nothing we can't accomplish.

Damn skippy!

As long as our guitarist doesn't book us a show for that day, being the promotional prostitute that he is, I will definatly be there. I shall represent Ever Since Yesterday and see what is going on with this whole gathering. It sounds like a good time and for a good cause. I'll even bring my slam dancing shoes!
