My sister moved to Alaska and then to Texas and she missed "Middlesworth B-B-Q Chips"...We'd always send here a care package...I'd send ya a MTO but don't eat it once it made it there a week later!RobTheDrummer wrote:You know what sucks, I miss Sheetz stores! The places out here don't have MTO's or anything like Sheetz had....It's all good tho...there's a Denny's about a block from my house.
Our Sheetz here us to have pressure cooked chicken, till they stopped...there would always be a line there after a gig at The County Line!

If that's true that they were planning to build a new Sheetz there, then that fire might be a suspicious as the Logan Valley Mall fire. That had to be one of the most convinient fires in Altoona history. Only the oldest part of the mall burned.

Re: reply
supposedly they own a couple of the houses behind the old Sheetz.plumcrazy wrote:Saw on the 11:00 pm news last night, they are planning to rebuild, and even made comment about making it bigger than the one that burnt.

The County Line Inn is making the same now...logs and all...close to the same (at times)...and the wings are great too...songsmith wrote:I have driven from Altoona to Mount Union for Sheetz pressure cooked chicken (and potato logs). I don't care for the new one. For one, I don't like the location. It's not at all convenient for me. Since it's opened, I've stopped there 3 or 4 times, tops. The interior is so freaking huge, too...ridiculous. It seems more like a grocery or department store than a Sheetz.

The new Sheetz is a whole different concept - and it's meant to be different from the original 'convenience' stores. We only go to the 'new' Sheetz for food - because stopping there for milk or bread is just maddening. What you can buy there is pretty limited too - but I won't complain about the drive thru - the service is usually pretty quick. I am sure it won't take long for the new store to be built at 7th avenue being that it was one of their most profitable stores.

That Mt. Union Sheetz fried chicken was delicious. I never saw it in any other Sheetz stores. Why did they only make it there?songsmith wrote:I have driven from Altoona to Mount Union for Sheetz pressure cooked chicken (and potato logs).
