Rockpage Trivia is Finally Here

Post by bassist_25 »

The moment of truth comes. Props goes to Jimi Hatt for figuring out the great mystery.

Long before the song name thread came forth and exhausted Rockpage's bandwidth, Rob and I had an idea, an idea that would breath new life into Rockpage and would help take it into a new age. The citizens of Rockpage were growing jaded and anti-bean, and they needed something to believe in. Thus came Rockpage Trivia, a product born from necessity and modern need (to paraphrase the title of a Nevermoure/Vs. the Earth album). Rockpage has given me so much, and here I return the favor. I officially give you

Rockpage Trivia

Here are the rules.

1. A question will be posted by either Rob or me. You will be given a finite amount of time (usually either one or two hours) to generate an answer. The first person who submits the correct answer wins the round. Once I log on and see that the correct answer is posted, there's not point in continuing the round for the rest of the time, so that round will then be over and a new round will begin.

2. Round times are flexible since it will be contigent on what's going on in the real world for Rob and me. Contrary to popular belief, I do not live on Rockpage. :D At the end of the day, Rockpage Trivia will be stopped until the beginning of the next day. RP trivia will last for about a week.

3. All subjects and forums are susceptible to be used, even the classifieds. Subjects will run the entire range of Rockpage history.

4. Obviously you can look in the archives, but questions will be framed so that one cannot simply enter a few keywords in the search function a generate the answer.

5. Since this thread will probably generate a lot of nostalgia, it is alright to post non-answer post. But if you are typing an answer, making it obvious that you are attempting to answer the question.

6. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the next Rockpage Jam. I haven't decided on the prizes, because they will be music-related. I'm not going to give a guitar player a set of drum sticks for winning or a drummer a guitar strap or a non-musician a guitar cable. ;)

7. You cannot answer questions directly related to yourself or your band. Obviously a lot of posters and bands are going to be brought up, but I'll mix it up so you don't unfairly lose points.

Alright, now let's start Rockpage Trivia. Good luck!

1. What band had a mock video game concept created on Rockpage featuring its members?
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

Was it you guys (Bad Daze) on the "Altoona Shooting post"? when they mocked an X-Box game?

haha if you're thinking GTA: Altoona - I used Bobby (Hurricanes) as well as Rob and Paul (Bad DaZe) however they were covered by the logo - as well as Jim Price - and local celebrities - so Im thinking thats not it

wait - wasnt a game created on the Hurricanes?

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! Colton photoshopped an SNES game featuring Felix and the Hurricanes.

Next question.

2. Everyone's favorite troll, Metal Rules, would take it upon himself to rewrite the lyrics of hit songs. What local metal band did Metal Rules rewrite the lyrics for (and of course, got his ass flamed for it)? This band is named after a type of missle.

If you remember correctly, FutureBobby, it was also a product born from mass consumption of beans about 4:20 a.m.

Yes, I remember that it was at Rob's house after a gig and a large helping of beans did help us come up with this idea. :D

It is not SeVer, though that's a good guess. The band is all original.

edit: I gave an extra hint in the original question.

Correct!

Here's an old school (not to be confused with old sKool) question.

3. What were the primary website colors of the original Rockpage before this version (back when the messageboard was based more on a guestbook style)?

Correct! I had to think for a moment there. I forgot about the white.

Here's an easier one.

4. What food item is often brought up in a thread has turned into a flame-war or has become innane. This food item first was brought up in heated political discussions.

Hehe, I knew that someone would get that one right away. Okay, now for a more difficult one.

5. What band recieved a less than positive review from JP because they took excessively long breaks during a gig at a very exclusive Altoona club?

Correct Steve! And while it wasn't the nicest question, any band that takes 40 minute breaks deserves to have their balls busted. ;)

6. What fake sponsorship did Jimi Hatt announce that HF1 was getting?
