do any of you actually go to see each other pklay do you support each other or do you just come on here and beg people who are not going to come and see you to come and see you down here in the dark everyone is to busy asking people to come see there stupid ass bands to go and see another stupid ass band
in the dark no one can hear you no one can see you are you all in the dark in the void do you get out much do any of you really care or know
I really tried to ignore this, and be mature but that never works for me.
So here's your answer bud, I go to as many shows to see as many,
how'd you say "stupid ass bands" as possible when my own stupid ass band isn't playing. Music is what we love here. Let me dumb it down for you. YOU ARE ON A MUSIC PAGE YOU FUCKING MORON. Do you think
I would waste my time getting on some fagged out vampire page
and ask you guys if you like jerking off while listening to the cure.
I already know the answer is yes, so I would not insult my own intelligence by even asking the question. I don't know what you're looking
for by posting nonsensical bullshit everytime you get a chance besides an argument so I hope this satisfies your urge and you don't go out and bite anybodies neck you big scary vampire.
Hugs and Kisses,
Dirty Sanchez

I almost can't believe I'm responding, but weird ramblings and crazed misuse of "quotes" aside, this new Rockpager brings up a good question in a roundabout king of way. I know a lot of you DO get out to see each other (when your own show schedules allow) because as musicians you enjoy live music and want to support the local music scene. I also think that Rockpage helps foster comraderie and creates a community of support for area musicians, which is great! The support really goes beyond just making it out to each other's shows, as SO much information, advice, technical help and suggestions are shared here. You should all be proud of what you've helped create (and remember to thank Ron for starting it all)!
But I can see what this person meant about "begging"- and repeated bumping in the Upcoming Shows area really does come off that way. I understand the desire to keep your upcoming show post near the top of the list to draw more attention from the non-musician Rockpage users who are just dropping by to decide where to go this weekend, but after seeing 10 "bumps" they might think there is a reason you have to "beg" people to come out to the show.
Not criticizing anyone, or trying to start a flame war, just saying beneath all the crap in this post, there might be a seed of insight about how repeated bumping might come off to other people. You don't want to turn off the very people you're trying to reach.
I agree wholeheartedly morningangel, but you can't blame
these guys about being excited about getting our music heard.
I know what kind of emotion work, and dedication goes into writing a song
let alone keeping a band together and wanting to work together.
So yeah sometimes we beg, sometimes we're shameless, but it's for our music and our "stupid ass bands" and everyone understands that on this
page. Look at the different genre's, styles, and age groups on this page
and theres rarely any BS. Now this VAMPIRE comes in and every post bashes someone. Maybe I'm wrong but I still say this dudes a joke.

I have no problem watching and listening to guys/gals promote their bands. If you don't who will? And going out to see other bands when your not playing is only smart business. You can learn something from every band you watch. If you go to just knock & mock stay home.....their gigging and your not. Hey you have to market your product wheather that means begging, announcing, keep the product in their facees, its what works. I have been around the music business for a long time, and watched real good bands disappear because they thought their music would speak for itself.

Sage Words!!!!!
Somewhat on topic - I was bored and had nothing to do at work yesterday, so I decided to browse through JP's Weekend Recaps. It was quite an interesting experience to see so many bands that are no longer together, many I've never even heard of (and I went as back os 02).
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
I do go out and support other bands when we are not playing. Many of them are musicians I have played with through the years or are friends I have met. Plus, it helps support some of the places that book my band.
In addition, it takes many aspects to have a successful band. Playing and performing well is just the beginning. You need to run it as a business and marketing and promotion are a huge part of that.
Do any of you actually go to see each other play? Do you support each other or do you just come on here and beg people who are not going to come and see you to come and see you?
Down here in the dark, everyone is too busy asking people to come see their stupid-assed bands to go and see another stupid-assed band.
In the dark, no one can hear you; no one can see you. Are you all in the dark; in the void? Do you get out much? Do any of you really care or know?
irritate you i will but surrender i will to talk to you like i would means nothing other then hate me be mad at me despise me be me but challenge you warrior i will
go to see the others when you will and the force will be strong hate me more love them more despise me and bond together i need you less then you need me i need you less then you need each other
for nonsense no one would no but some do see that is what i mean the day has come you are all together and we are all together
for i walk without fear some of you anger easily some of you see some of you laugh but you do it all at me
post your thought but not at me for in each other the truth you will see
the post is you pay attention for the night speaks loudly
You know back in the time before workplaces had Unions, Political correctness, Affirmative Action, and Child Abuse laws and such - folks would just be able to take people like nosferatu back behind a woodshed and shoot them in the back of the head..
You may be wondering why I have no trivial knowledge about nosferatu's comments.. but believe me when I tell you - there is NO LOGICAL EXPLANATION for any one word that was spouted out there.. none of it made sense..
are you one of those?
with all your childish ramblings about philosophy and your garbage cult/death crap answer me that question are you one? You must be cause you wouldn't be on here putting mindless inate sayings
Sorry everybody else, I just can't stand his drugdes anymore

Found it! ... called "Why are they there"...remember the lazer and E-n-ergy post....: Nosurrender wrote:" why are they there??? why do YOU believe people show up, pay for your show? i'd really want to hear this from the band's perspective! what are they doing sitting out there???? is it just smthg to do? are they they for YOU? or just "gettin fuked up" for the evening?? "
Sound alike?...I copied and pasted so don't blame me for the spelling!
"Not all those who own Musical instruments are musicians"Varro
Maybe thats what Nosfetatu should do spend more time with his instrument(either the one in his pants or the one he buys from the music store) than sit online and critize other musicians and there bands
There philiosophiz that you speaking in riddle dead vampire, LOL
"Everything under the sun is in tune,But the sun is eclipsed by the moon"
Morningangel does make a good point. These assholes that change one letter or a color on their band page to bring it to the top just kill me. Worse thing is that it seems like it's always the bands from my hometown. Doesn't really surprise me, though.
Code view is for developers which you aint~ Hey ill be different and use code!
NS get a life!
Ill post a months worth of shows and not bother with the schedule. There are more musicians here than fans. I only have 220 members on my forum but thats who i care about, promoting your own site at shows is more beneficial.
Not to say dont use RP, but i think of it as a Musicians forum above all for info and fun.
If you're taking the time to bump a thread, you really could be using it elsewhere to actually PROMOTE the show. Tellinga co-worker or even a stranger on the street would be more effective than continuous bumping. I really believe bumping is counter-productive. Just a thought.
And I DO understand that the offenders are excited about their music, and that's awesome! I also agree promoting your band IS crucial. However, if bumping threads on RP is a big part of your marketing strategy, you might want to explore other no/low budget options.
