mp3.com goes under

Post by JimmySkinny »

as of dec 2nd, mp3.com will be no more, as of now nobody knows if they plan on having ANY service after the 2nd, as of now it seems as if they are pulling the plug on everything, so no more audio hosting or cd sales, as of nov 18th all cds that bands had on mp3.com will no longer be available.

quite a tragedy for music makers worldwide

This is a major disappointment. I for one, have downloaded lots of music and discovered lots of great bands from there. :(

yeah, this is bad for all music scenes in general...mp3.com not only left bands with access to a ton of people but, it opened up people to new genres and all kinds of stuff....

too bad nothing can be done about this...

Yeah, maybe it was to much of a good thing. Even with paying memberships to upload more songs and advertisements, it probaly didn't cover a whole lot of the cost. I can't even fathom how much bandwidth the site probaly uses.

Well, guess I should start downloading what I want to download.

the rumors that i heard is that they got bought out by a major record label and they decided to shut the site down, i honestly cant think of a reason to shut it down, they were helping bands/song writers all over the globe and we all know they were making money on it.

it just sucks that they didnt even notify anyone about it, i found out from word of mouth.

I'm not exactly sure how mp3.com worked, but here's a URL someone recently gave me to promote an independant CD. http://www.cdbaby.com/ Check it out.

Lets see why would a major record label by a site where people get to listen to music they want to and shut it down? Maybe so your options are limited and you have to go pay $15 buck for a CD with a pretty face on the cover.

maybe also to keep unsigned bands from getting exposure, so it forces ppl to only buy major label garbage.

thats just my opinion. why give small bands exposure when they are trying to rape ppl into buying their $17.99 trash.
