Ever have one of those shows
HAve you ever had one of those shows when everything went horribly wrong and no matter what you did the train wreck wouldn't stop happening?
I've been playing in bands for 15 years now and Friday night was the first time I've ever felt like selling everything but an acoustic and learn folk songs to sing by a campfire..
We were the last act of a 4 band show.. Here's the disater list
First thing- my guitar wireless stops working.. I'm only guitar plyer... Bad cord
The second.. I felt like Ashley freaking Simpson I started one song the other guys started another . By the way it's our best original and we butchered it.
Third my vocals completely left me.. Trying to get over a cold and I sing 70% of the songs
Fourth- I wasn't using my guitar rig and the FX processor i was using had a short in the power supply... shorted in the middle of the song...
Fifth- the drunkest asshole in the bar wanted to talk to me in the middle of me singing and knocks over the mic and stand.
All this within an hour set list....

I feel for ya!!!
I was just telling the guys in the band on Fri night at rehearsal that every band I was ever in has a really bad show when the band first starts playing. Usually it's after you do several shows and things start to tighten up and voila! a show comes along and all hell breaks lose!! We've already done the frying bacon in the monitors instead of keys, the broken cord, between the head and speakers. They never go bad! The band sounding like a 3pc. band instead of 5pcs. cause the soundman was told to turn it down, so he turned it off!1
Just another day!!!

oh , yeah...
28 years of this....and I've done everything from popping strings , to an unscheduled summersault off the stage , 5 feet to the dance floor below....at the Sheraton , even...to being unceremoniously fed my mike stand by your drunk's dad....
Now your band stories just got better.
The gentleman was right....Don't worry....you're overdue.
All said and done....It's all good.

Yes I have,it happened last night @ Gooski's in Polish Hill.
First our bass player was so wasted she couldn't play any off the songs correctly.
Second,my E string slipped for the first 2 songs.
Third, during the last leg of the set my amp just stopped working, good thing there are 2 guitar players.
So it was a way shitty night and set.
Bloody Hell-Live and learn
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!

A really bad day for me was when I missed my first show. I play harmonica, tamborine, and the triangle. Out in the parking lot before the show, some dude suckered me into a three-card monty game. I caught the slippery little shit cheating and called him on it.
He beat me senseless, smashing my face, and breaking my tamborine and triangle playing hand. The show went on without me. They found some guy named Todd to blow the harp, and called some people up from the audience to play the tamborine and triangle.
They didn't really need me in the band after that. I've been very bitter ever since.

I was there and nobody did notice!!! The only thing really noticeable was the drunk guy grabbing the mic!!!!Good thing is...since you were the fourth band...and it was St. Patty's day...people were probably so shitfaced that no one will even remember.
Ryan, I thought you guys put on a great show!!!! And since it was your debut, nobody knows your best original!!!
You should have had some firewater...

Man, we've all been there. I think my worst experience was when Martyrdom was opening for Byzantine and Chimaira's guitarists side project. We came out playing great but, then the PA died, 4 times during our set. Our energy went to crap and it took 45 minutes to play 3 songs. It was a horrid experience, we ended up finishing our last song with no PA at all. We had to just say the hell with it and finish.
I feel for you man, we've all been there and it blows...

I should engineer my own successful music product so I can have my idea ripped off by Beheringer too! Next thing you know, Beheringer is going to steal our Snicker's idea.
