Wasted Concert War Stories

Post by songsmith »

A post in another thread got me thinking: what were some of the biggest wastes of concert-ticket money you've ever perpetrated?
I myself NEVER got wasted before a concert as a young fan, because I wanted to absorb it all and learn (okay, once by accident at Dio/Twisted Sister in '83, it was freezing and somebody had brandy... I was sober by the time the show started). As a more mature cat, I enjoyed expanding the mind a bit pre-show, if you get my drift, but in the last few years, I'm stone cold sober all the (boring-ass) time.
Tell me some of your funniest inebriated shenanigans. You know you've done it. -------->JMS

Oh.....getting wasted at concerts.....good one

Further Festival -Star Lake Amp - 1996??
We got there about 10 AM and proceeded to start drinking (I was only 15 or so at the time), and then several members of our party began to imbibe other smoke producing products.....

Long story short, after we went into the show, we lost one of our friends....who we didn't find until the last band was onstage (Bob Weir and Ratdog I believe)...here he had wandered into the lawn section searching for more carcinogens, and decided he was tired and laid down for a little nap.....and he was still asleep when we found him......almost 6 hours later.!!!!...about a year later he checked into rehab (probably a good call on his part)

AC/DC and Love/Hate at the Civic Arena, 1990, Razors Edge :drank WAY too much beer, puffed for one of the first times, then headed down out of the parking lot towards the arena, where I remember running into a few bottles of hard liquor being unselfishly passed around along the way. I could not even read the section numbers over th doorway I was so fucked up. I passed out before AC/DC evencame on, waking up only to puke on people. I think I remember the big bell ringing b4 hells bells, which might have made me wake up, puke on more people, and pass back out.

uh, yeah, waste of money!

Worst waste of concert money for me would have been a Smashing Pumpkins/Fountains of Wayne show at BJC. Not because of excessive chemical intake, but because of the company. Somehow I ended up going with a bunch of young yuppie types I barely knew. Their idea of going to a concert was to sit in a trendy restaurant talking on their cell phones until halfway through the headliner's set, drop in the arena for a few songs just to say you were there, then leave to go barhopping. We were at the show for maybe 15 minutes tops.

Sad to say, but I have never been so totally wasted at a concert that I don't remember it. I will however say that I regret not being totally wasted while being forced to see Loverboy TWICE in concert.

I saw them warm up for Kansas at the War Memorial on ACID! Eating LSD and sitting with a few thousand strangers is NOT a good thing. Kansas' lazers were pretty cool though.

I think I saw Twisted Sister in 83 (Come Out and Play Tour?) - and I got really stoned DURING the show - but damn, I thought Dokken opened for them - I guess I was more wasted than I thought!!!

I saw them supporting the first big album (the one with, You Can't Stop Rock & Roll). They opened for Dio (Last In Line Tour), and it was a great show. Dee's a world-class frontman. They broke absolutely huge right after that.----->JMS

Easily, the worse waste of concert money was going to see 50 Cent. The ticket was free and a friend needed a ride. NEVER AGAIN will I go to a rap show!!!!!
