How about EASY RIDER? Ok not exactly as musical movie. But one with a great soundtrack... 'Dont bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me..'

Yes Baceman Spiff, "Easy Rider" has a great soundtrack! The ending of that movie is so senseless and sad.

I finally recalled the name of the movie that when it came out, it's soundtrack was all the rage: "The Big Chill".

Detroit Rock City was awesome, as was the Dylan doc. I have watched The Wall vegetation-free... not near as good. I saw A Clockwork Orange maybe 5 times straight, and didn't get it. First time toasty, and it was like, "ohhhhhhhh, I understand!"-------------->JMS

Did you want movies that were related to music or movies that have good music in them? All movies have some sort of music in them - but have nothing to do with music - sorry, I just got confused when reading some of the replies.

Anyway, music related movies:

- Mr. Hollands Opus
- Blues Brothers
- Eddie and the Cruisers (the first one ONLY)
- Rockstar
- The Idolmaker
- Crossroads
- The Commitments
- Josie and the Pussycats (JUST KIDDING!!)

And, Theatrical made into movies:

- The Music Man (my all time favorite)
- A Chorus Line

Thanx for clearing that up. I wasn't sure who it was. I always heard it was SRV.

NP, actually Arlen Roth played all the blues parts in the movie, except the duel which was Cooder.

I was just reading that yesterday.

There was a good interview with Ry Cooder about Crossroads, bout how he ended up with Steve Vai.

He originally wanted SRV and was talking to a producer friend of his, who happened to be playing some music he just recorded with Vai. Cooder asked who was playing in the background. Found out about Vai, and Steve Vai ended up cuttin heads for the Devil.

Let's see, not limited to and in no particular order:

Cliff 'em All (don't know if it counts as a movie, but I had to include it)
This is Spinal Tap (pure genius-outtakes are even better)
The Blues Brothers
The Decline of Western Civilization (pts. I & II)
Suburbia (the 1st one, it still sucks but its nostalgic)
La Bamba (just because he carries his guitar Everywhere)

That's all I can think of worth mentioning for now...I'm sure as soon as I post this I'll think of 50 more...

Nowhere was Britney spears aforementioned, I was just being a dick
because she has a movie called crossroads. Plus being a dick is pretty much all I'm good at, but maybe I'm not even good at that anymore.
I just think that whoever made that movie should have looked and said,
"Hey there's already a movie called CrossRoads that is much better than our stupid ass movie, so let's call it something else."IMO
