VH-1 Gets Interesting For Musicians For A Change

Post by ToonaRockGuy »

Don't know if anyone heard about this, but in my showprep today was a cool story about a new reality show coming on VH-1 called "Supergroup". It's a group of pro musicians who are sent to live in Las Vegas in a house together for two weeks to write, produce, and record a song together and play a concert. Filming on the seven episode series has already begun.

The musicians are:

Ted Nugent - Guitar
Scott Ian (Anthrax) - Guitar
Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard) - Bass
Jason Bonham (Foreigner) - Drums
Sebastan Bach (ex-Skid Row) - Vocals

Thoughts? It should be nuts, especially with Ted Nugent there!

It does sound cool although I'm about sick of reality TV. It will probably be alot of bickering and fighting, head butting of ego's. If they can focus a little more on the music end it would be cool.

Anything with Baz and Nuge in it should be interesting.

I've heard many rumors about this.... Baz was actually #2 in the Velvet Revolver auditions. Any truth?? Heck, I'd take Baz over Cracky McHeroin anyday.

Nugent and Ian in the same house should make for some interesting political and philosophical discussions.

LMAO "Cracky McHeroin"

Let's see, the Nuge and 4 other Musicians having to live together for 2 weeks, let alone create? Now that's a "reality" show I'd watch!

Holy shit Bert ! Where the hell did the Cracky McHeroin thing come from ? I don't know why but I can't stop laugh'n at that name. You're kill'n me dude !

Wow would that be some great t.v. I can just see the sparks fly'n now ! I wonder what the Nuge will do when someone breaks out some booze or a spliff, ( Baz is a strong supporter of beans ). As you know the Nuge doesn't go for those things that we all love so much . You can't help to wonder what the music might sound like if they pull it off . I bet it will rock. They'll have to get Scott Ian some 12'' platform shoes though , if not he'll look like a munchkin rock'n out next to Baz.

Have any of you ever listened to 105.9 "The X", out of Pittsburgh? There was a DJ on there named Digby that used to rip on Scott Weiland heavily. One day, he just said ".... and guess what Cracky McHeroin has been up to", and everyone knew who he was talking about.

You can pick 105.9 up in some areas of Cambria County. It's a good station that has fallen prey to the Clearchannel scurge. I haven't listened to it in about a year.

Speaking of rockin reality TV, I heard there is gonna be another 'who wants to be a rockstar singer' type show. Apparently the first one with INXS was a success, so they are making another season. I've heard several rumors that the next band to search for the new 'perfect frontman' is none other than..........

..............Van Halen!~

Oh no!! If they took Cherone, I shouldn't be shocked. Did Patty Smith turn them down again?

These "Reality Shows" are a joke. They are not what their name implies. It is not REALITY! I am sure it is Scripted, and directed and totally Hollywood...

Actually I do not watch any syndicated television. It is a joke and an insult to intelligence.

This is NOT true. The VH story has been floating around ever since the INXS season ended. Both Eddie and Alex Van Halen are adamant about the fact that they are NOT doing the show. Mike's busy promoting his hot sauce and drinking with Sammy Hagar, Ed's off on his own somewhere, and Alex is the one that's addressing the Van Halen issues. If VH does return, more than likely it'll be with Sammy Hagar back on vocals.

But according to Ed and Alex, they will NOT be a part of the "Rock Star" reality series.

INXS picked the wrong guy. Every time I hear that f@#kin' song on the radio, I think about Elvis.

Van Halen hasn't been the same since David Lee Roth left. I hated the Hagar years, and Especially the Cherone crap. Long Live DLR!!!

David Lee Roth was the man ! I kinda always wished somebody would throw a shot of Sammy's tequila in his face then kick him in the ass .

Van Failin , man is that good stuff ! LMAO
I don't care who you are that's funny right there !

I heard rumors of this too and I figured it coudn't be true , well at least I hoped it wasn't ! Did anyone ever hear the Bob and Tom shows with DLR on them ? They always cracked me up cause they would make it out that he was work'n in a hardware store or something but, he always claimed to be there only to promote his show and that he really wasn't work'n there.

Roth might need a job in the hardware store, because his radio career isn't going to last long.

Van Halen hasn't had a decent record since "Fair Warning." So I don't blame the singers for them sucking. And as for DLR, did anyone see him promoting his little Vegas show on Letterman or Leno a few years back? I thought he was some gay Barry Manilow impersonator, until they said who he was! (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) I couldn't believe it was actually HIM!
If you compare their solo stuff, Hagar wins HANDS DOWN!

Dave is 10 times the frontman that Sammy is. When Dave was in the band VH ruled the world then they got Sammy and turned into a cheesey top 40 radio band. The band Dave put together with the guy from Atomic Punk is closer to VH than actual Van Halen as that kid on guitar does Eddie better than Eddie. And really what does it matter now after the last tour which just proved Eddie lost any bit of reality and talent which he has just pissed away over the years.(totally fucked up 95% of his solos and over have of the rhythems trying to act like he is 20 and being so fucked up he cried like a baby in the mic for 5 minutes then smashed guitars. Yeah he is dude?) The only thing Eddie thinks a guitar is used for now is just endorsement and a money making thing and not for making unreal music on which is how he use to look at things. Hell he even has copyrites on his paintjobs so he can put more money in his pocket instead of being happy that after all these years people still want to copy his style and stuff. Where now he is just a pathetic emaciated has been which is just a shame as he was the king at one time. But for the most part everyone who is anyone in the guitar world walked by him 10 years ago and left him sitting in the dust.
And who cares whos solo stuff is better when the fact of the matter is that when Dave was in VH they pounded and were the biggest band in the world, then comes Sammy and pussifies everything and turned them into a top 40 wank band.
So it doesnt matter who they get to sing now as the talent and the edge that they once had is long gone and anything they do now is just for the money.

No doubt, the houseband on that show with the blonde dude (Marty?) were better than INXS themselves from what I had seen of it.

My point was that they changed into a cheesy radio band BEFORE DLR left. "Jump? " And for that, I think you'd have to blame Eddie and Alex.

Reading these posts about the sad ending of the great Van Halen band.

What a waste of musicians.

Maybe a good thread would be which band had a lamer ending:

Van Halen

Guns and Roses

Both of these bands could still be playing awsome rock and roll.
